"Shake Our Tree" as written by Kelly Crisp and Ivan Howard....
That bird's ready I know
He's tired of being alone
He's working all on his own
Building himself a home

And take that finch when he sings
See his mate by his wings
And if you listen close
You may even hear him say

Will our love ever end (woah no)
Will you stop being my best friend (woah no)
Will you sleep as worse as me (woah no)
Singing a story of love in the leaves

(Oo-oo-o-oo)
Before the winter takes hold
And the figs are dry and cold
The birds are meetin' in the tree
And confess love's what they need
Perform love on their limbs
And sing one of love's true hyms
And if you listen close
You can even hear them say

Are you ever gonna treat me right (woah no)
Are you ever gonna hold me down (woah no)
Will you get tired holding me tight (woah no)
Looks like the story of love grows, alright

Will our love ever end (woah no)
Will you let me shake our tree (woah no)
Will you stop being my best friend (woah no)
Looks like the story of love never ends

General CommentLove love love this song. So happy and fun to sing. One thing, though, I think "Are you ever gonna treat me right" should be "Will you ever not treat me right," otherwise it clashes with the rest of the song (It seems to me that he WILL treat her right.) Plus, that's what I hear in the line.

General Commenti love the melody of this song and the chorus. i like how its simple, relating people's love lives to birds. i love the rosebuds.

General CommentI absolutely adore everything about this song, although some of the words are a bit incomprehensible. One thing -- I think "Will you sleep as worse as me" should actually say "Will you speak harsh words to me".

General CommentI'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure "Will you sleep as worse as me" is actually "Will you speak harsh words to me".

Lyric CorrectionThe lyrics to this song are in the booklet of the CD.... (I'm talking to you, whoever put these lyrics on here).
    Corrections:
"he's working all on his own" should be "he's working all morning long".
"see his mate by his wings" is either "a tune is made by his wings" or "to his mate by his wings" (can't remember right now).
"will you sleep as worse as me" should be "will you speak harsh words to me" (seriously? Will you sleep as worse as me makes NO sense).
"the birds are meetin' in the trees" should be "the birds all meet in the trees".
"perform love on their limbs" should be "they form lines on the limbs" (limbs referring to tree branches).
"are you ever gonna treat me right" should be "will you ever not treat me right" (you're right AlmightyChrissy, wouldn't fit with the rest of the song if it was the way it's written on here!)
"will you let me shake our tree" should be "will you let them come shake our tree"
So, with that being said, go buy this CD, it's AMAZING.
