Anyone can tell you there's no more road to ride
Everyone will tell you there's no place to hide
There's no laws or rules to unchain your life
But the ones who didn't make it
The ones who couldn't take it
So glad they have made it out alive

Everyone loves the fun everyone comes by
In the wind I crunch I want to die
They can give me pills
Or let me drink my fill
The heart wants to explode far away
Where nobody knows

Do you believe she said that
Do you believe she said that
I said I hate myself and I want to die

Half of it is innocent
The other half is wise
The whole damn thing makes no sense
I wish I could tell you a lie

Hey come here
Let me whisper in your ear
I hate myself and I want to die

Do you believe she said that
Can you believe she repeated that
I said I hate me myself and I
I said I hate myself and I want to die

    General CommentReally like this song

    "Half of it is innocent
    The other half is wise
The whole damn thing makes no sense
I wish I could tell you a lie", I think it's about the song itself.

Just a feeling, no reasons, no explanations, no apologies, no guilt. Simple snd strong

General Comment"Half of it is innocent, the other half is wise." She wants to kill herself, but the threat is more innocent than legitimate even though she would be better off dead. She just wants the pain to end. She doesn't care how it happens.

General CommentI can't believe this song only has one comment. This song is so depressing.
    "They can give me pills
Or let me drink my fill
The heart wants to explode far away
    Where nobody knows"

I know exactly how she feels.

General CommentThis is my favorite song by Cat Power. Uhhh.. It's pretty self explanatory.

Just thought I'd like to point out for the few people who don't realize it, "I hate myself and want to die" is a song by Nirvana.

The most interesting lyrics, in my opinion, are "there's no laws or rules to unchain your life" which I think means, there's no one thing that will make everyone's life better, worth living.

and "the other half is innocent, the other half is wise..." I think that means that when someobody wants to kill themselves, it's because they are usually an innocent or naive person. Somebody who expected more than what they got out of their life. At the same time, they are being being wise by now understanding what the world is really like and that not everything works out for the best or "greater good".

"The heart wants to explode, far away, where nobody knows..." Wow.

MemoryWhen told that lots of people in the west hate themselves, the Dalai Lama was truely amazed. Never heard of the feeling. Why would anyone need this feeling? Why not rather be completely wise and innocent instead? I must agrre with him. Knowing the other feeling all to well.
