"Perfect" as written by and Vincent Paul Scheuerman....
It's time that I got myself a nice suit
So that I could look respectable for you
And it's time that I built myself a refuge
So that I could hide away if I so choose

These days it feels that everything is changing
Used to be that every stride, you were standing by my side
But now it feels I'm walking on a tightrope
As I try to balance out how to make you proud

One day I'll be perfect, I'll be so extraordinary
I will shine, I will radiate
One day I'll be perfect, I'll be so extraordinary
I will take your breath away

And you almost don't even recognize me
Saying, "How did you erase all but gorgeous from your face?"
But don't be scared 'cause I'll live here forever
Won't you take a venture out, won't you take a venture out of there.

One day I'll be perfect'.

The stars will fall from skies above
But I am no prophet of doom
I just thought I'd warn you
It's a service I provide for free to you
They call it love, babe.

One day I'll be perfect'.

General CommentWoot! First comment! Okay. Anyways. I really love this song. It's the only one I can really remember from when I saw them in concert and fell in love. (Also met half the band, but that's not the point.)
This song sounds to me like a guy talking to an ex-girlfriend who he still loves. They broke up because she didn't think he was good enough for her. He's saying one day he'll be perfect and therefore good enough to win her back.

General CommentMan I love this song. I'm surprised to see other people on this site that like army of me. WOOT!
Im actually kinda bummed to be honest, that they are moving to columbia records. I'll miss my little indie DC band. I just hope they dont become the next fall out boy- they're too good for that.
As for the song lyrics I agree with you.
I listen to this song at least once a day. These people are amazing.

General CommentI think he's talking about a past relationship with a girl to said girl. And the reason they broke up is "Things Changed" and she didn't see in him what she had seen in the past.

General Commentyal1091 - The correct line is "How did you erase all but gorgeous from your face." He says 'but' if you listen carefully, and it goes with the lyrics about how he'll one day be so amazing that people will be blown away.
