Wiped out in the city slick
Another sick rock 'n' roller acting like a dick
Needing cash
Burning through the trash
That piles up in this place
And fills up behind my empty face
Full of things that I'm not to do

You come over with all of your friends
And all their opinions I don't want to know
And I'm looking over my shoulder
Booking away with nowhere to go

I run down to the corner lot
It's forty-five past two
I almost forgot to show
Got a date to make with Mr. So-and-So
After which
I won't care when you all start to bitch and moan
About being alone

You come over with all of your friends
And all their opinions I don't want to know
And I'm looking over my shoulder
Booking away with nowhere to go

Well, can't you just leave me alone?
You've already thrown all the sticks and stones
You had to send my way
Well, can't you just leave it at that?
And spare us both the bother
Because I just bounce back anyway
I got nothing that I want to do more
Than make another sonic "fuck you" to play
Whenever you make my life cliché
So to fit in some little box with the all the labeled shit
You would say to keep confusion away

You come over with all of your friends
And all their opinions I don't want to know
And I'm looking over my shoulder
Booking away with nowhere to go

You come over with all of your friends
And all their opinions I don't want to know
And I'm looking over my shoulder
Booking away

well i was surprised these lyrics weren't up until now.

but anyway, i love the anger in this song, and it's seems like a 'sonnet fuck you' to people trying to catagorize or label him as something, when really no one can really understand him. he just wants to be left alone.

also, i love "it's forty-five past two"-- sounds like a 2:45 AM referance to me.

I really think this song is about Margrett middelmen Elliott's ex-manager. its about how she was tring to influence his art and make him stop taking drugs. judging him and trying to make him conforn to his labels dreamworks' wishes. And all the fake rock star assholes that come from being in LA and being signed to a major label.

its deals with his addictions once again. theres more to it than that but if you take a look at the following lines:

I'm running down to the corner lot It's 45 past 2 I almost forgot to show I got a date to make with Mr. So-and-So After which I won't care when you all start to bitch And moan about being alone

2:45 is about drug addiction and if you go to the 2:45 song here on songmeanings a couple people down is someone who points out why it seems that way. but anyways he chooses 2:45 for god knows what reason but we know that the time is linked to addiction. he almost missed a date with mr so and so who is his dealer/connection and once he gets that drug in him nothing matteres hence the part where he says he wont care that all the people are bitching and moaning about being alone.

definitely sounds like he's telling his friends to fuck off.

this song isnt called sticks and stones, according to a source close to him this song was still untitled when he passes away. Anyway it's my favorite of the recently leeked unreleased material. Never did he write a song this completely angry at the people in his life before. I think it's tragic this one didnt make the cut for Faboth, such a fantastic song musically and lyrically. And you gotta love the 2:45am reference.

I love this song and the anger/emotion that it captures, although I think that the anger. like in many of his Basement songs, is actually targeted at his fans who wait for him on tooth nail to write another brutally painful and beautiful song.

"sonnet fuck you" is you and me.

I think you guys are generalizing to much.I think this song is simply about how people can be really be annoying and agravating alot of the time and you dont really want them around but they always seem to be.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
