A desert sunrise, you warm my soul
Painting me in shades of clay
Covering me whole
And I'm a lizard, sunbathing in your radiance
Oh I come out of hiding, so sweet
So sweet you are
If I could only have a taste
Wrap my lips around your flavor
Just because you are you
Just because you are, so beautiful

And I've been waiting all this life
In the company of one
And I know I am young
But I don't want to be alone
If you could only just
Consider the two of us
And I know darling
I could be so good to you

I see you rising
On the horizon
Bringing light into the day
And I'm coasting on your rays
When I awoke, you spoke through the mist of the mystic bliss
Casting shadows
On all my dismal yesterdays
Do you remember that you told me, darling
That I was so real
I tell you all, my tears for you are real
And we'll cross that bridge again some day
I know we will
I hope we will

Desert sunset, a lullaby
If I could give it all to you
If you'd only let me try
Sing so sweetly, it's my only wish
Music drips from your lips like sweet sips of a summer's kiss
Summer raindrops are precious, tongues twist

And I've been waiting all this life
In the company of one
And I know I am young
But I don't want to be alone
If you could only just
Consider the two of us
And I know darling
I could be so good to you

I see you rising, on the horizon
Bringing light into the day
And I'm coasting on your rays
When I awoke and you spoke through the mist of a mystic bliss
Casting shadows
On all my dismal yesterdays
Do you remember that you told me, darling
That I was so real
I tell you all, my tears for you are real
We'll cross that bridge again some day
I know we will
I hope we will

Desert moonrise, into the night
Before we lay our heads
I wish to walk under the splendorous starlight
Sing so sweetly, it's the sweetest sound
And I've become weak in the knees
And I drop down and kiss the ground
And all my cares lie far below
In this earth I wish to die
In this hearth my fire grows

    My Interpretation

"And I've been waiting all this life In the company of one And I know I am young But I don't want to be alone If you could only just Consider the two of us And I know darling I could be so good to you"

The lizard is cold and lonely from the night. The sunrise is the woman who becomes his savior - saves him from himself/loneliness/cold. The sun shares her warmth/love through sun rays and he falls in love. Her love helps him to forget about his dismal yesterdays and shows him a new brighter, warmer, more loving and less lonely future. Let's hope this time around that the sunrise is not followed by a sunset. It seems at night the lizard starts to believe that the sun will not rise again. Surely he's been through this cycle before? Perhaps the dark/cold makes him forget the light/warmth, then during the day the light/warmth helps him forget the dark/cold. He is lonely and longing for love, perhaps love is what makes him realize how lonely he's been in life. Now that he has found her, he doesn't want to go back to living his life alone, he wants to share it with her forever. I think this story is talking about loneliness, finding love, and the struggle to keep it. It teaches hope for better days even in the darkest hours just before daylight, and appreciation of the better days in case darkness comes again.

I think jallen84 has a gretat interpretation and let me say everyone here is right, this is a beautiful song. it means so much and honestly brings tears to my eyes.

When you realize how great just one person can be for you, they do become like your sun and you do coast off of their rays even when they aren't around. in my own world a similar time issue is happening as with the sun and the night for this lonely lizard and i know how he can feel...I know how lonely he can feel and sometimes all the energy in the world can go into just"knowing" or "hoping" that you will meet again and be on the road to happiness together.

But if it's really as natural and beautiful as the sunrise moves into sunset, it will be an eventuality and it will work out. so for anyone coping with music like this on days like today like i am...that eventuality will come :) i am working on always believing that. but for now, just coast on those rays and make them your own rays. be your own sun and let the world be yours. you can do anything for you and make it happen. don't pursue happiness, rather..create it :)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
