It’s been a long time
Since I last saw your face
And now I wonder
Why I’m so disgraced
It’s ‘cos my mind is
Firmly set on you
Although you’re gone now
And there’s nothing I can do

It’s just the same as last time
But this time, it’s with you
This added incentive
Of next Friday night
It’s all so different
with you lighting up my life

Maybe last time
The love wasn’t true
The only reason
Was it wasn’t you
You’ve returned now
I’ve got your heart to regain
I’m sitting and thinking
Of how I should play

You build me up and you drag me around
It’s something that I’ve learned to love
I got so high until I hit the ground
And now I’m looking above

I get the chance
To see you again
My heart’s a-flutter
Soon to be on the mend
I just can’t wait
To be there with my star
The person’s you
And the venue’s the bar

Chorus x 2

General CommentThis song was created after a long time listening to Eagle Eyed Cherry's "Falling in Love Again", and the influence is really clear (I am a thief...) - the music is similar and the lyrics are...ahem...very similar? It's about a relationship which seems like oh-so-familiar territory, but a whole new twist has been brought to it, because of the exciting person that it involves this time around. Some live variations of the last line of the final verse include "and the venue's not far / venue's [insert pub name here]'s bar"...etc.
