This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
We'd been together for so long
Almost fright from the start
Became a bullshit unit and become one
So close to me you actually broke my heart
But thank you and goodbye
I was never that better guy
All I wish is good luck
Cos you'll never find a better fuck
Wasting my time with you is all that they said
I finally realised I'd be better off dead
I loved you but it was just a but too much
All the pain I went through just to get to you
Game over, you win
Just Throw my photos in the bin
Should of kept this oh so quiet
But for all the years
I was the only protester In our riot
But it's the only way I'll have my say
Game over goodbye
See you on the other side
Game over goodbye
Tried so hard to never lie
Game over goodbye
Till the day we die
Game over goodbye
Can never look you in the eye
GOOD BYE, GOOD LUCK
You'll never find a better fuck
Almost fright from the start
Became a bullshit unit and become one
So close to me you actually broke my heart
But thank you and goodbye
I was never that better guy
All I wish is good luck
Cos you'll never find a better fuck
Wasting my time with you is all that they said
I finally realised I'd be better off dead
I loved you but it was just a but too much
All the pain I went through just to get to you
Game over, you win
Just Throw my photos in the bin
Should of kept this oh so quiet
But for all the years
I was the only protester In our riot
But it's the only way I'll have my say
Game over goodbye
See you on the other side
Game over goodbye
Tried so hard to never lie
Game over goodbye
Till the day we die
Game over goodbye
Can never look you in the eye
GOOD BYE, GOOD LUCK
You'll never find a better fuck

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
