[Music & Words: Tobias Sammet]

When you wake up in the fire
And you harbour lies in ruins
You wonder why the giant has been shot
Fired off down from sky

You plead for explanation
Is it accident or rule
And where is you childhood hero
To drive all the demons away

What if the light
Shines in darkness my friend
And darkness just can't comprehend
So blaze the trail on you own
Go it alone

We are falling - falling to rise
Pain is the guide out of the wastelands
We don't need a hero
We are falling - falling to rise
No charlatan to show you the light
We don't need a hero

Indignity is the leader
To escort us to the fen
Where they say the light is endemic
If only I could comprehend

Now you're old enough to face it
Rabble's stones give pain
Hit you as they watch you tracks
Apart from the way that they understand

What if the light
Shines in darkness my friend
And darkness just can't comprehend
So blaze the trail on you own
Go it alone

We are falling - falling to rise
Pain is the guide out of the wastelands
We don't need a hero
We are falling - falling to rise
No charlatan to show you the light
We don't need a hero

We are falling to rise

We are falling - falling to rise
Pain is the guide out of the wastelands
We don't need a hero
We are falling - falling to rise
No charlatan to show you the light
We don't need a hero

Oh we don't need a hero
No we don't need a hero

i think this song is about injustice and the falseness of a suppressing society / world

When you wake up in the fire wake up in fire = dissatisfied and angry about life And you harbour lies in ruins harbour = life You wonder why the giant has been shot giant = someone who doesnt deserve to be shot, that hes fired Fired off down from sky down off the sky stands for injustice

You plead for explanation the following 2 phrases mean that one is annoyed by the Is it accident or rule injustice of the rules etc.''Is it accident or rule'' confirms
And where is you childhood hero that one shouldnt believe everything one hears, for example what To drive all the demons away one gets prefixed by the media. ''where is you childhood hero to drive all the demons away'' means that in the childhood everything was more lighthearted and one disregarded everything going on around. ''demons'' = everyday's dismay and cruelties which one now notices as an adult.

What if the light ''light'' = the ''good thing'', the righteous, the society and Shines in darkness my friend it's ideals what sets example to one in the way one lives and And darkness just can't comprehend how one should behave. ''darkness'' = the ''evil'', So blaze the trail on you own the protagonist of the text who doensnt want to live that way, Go it alone the outcast (the clever one seeing through, the metaler : D ) that the darkness cant ''comprehend'' means that theres just too much ''light'' which suppresses the darkness.

We are falling - falling to rise ''falling'' = going one's own hard and solitary way being Pain is the guide out of the wastelands despised by the others. ''rise'' = proud and with We are falling - falling to rise farsightedness not letting oneself get blinded (by the No charlatan to show you the light (society etc). Pain ( because of the hard life one has) is the We don't need a hero guide out of this false world ''hero'' = society's ideals, the chruch (law etc) ''charlatan'' = the same as hero

Indignity is the leader ''indignity'' because one ain't ''normal'' as the ''herd'' and To escort us to the fen being punished for that. the rest of the text kind of explains Where they say the light is endemic itself now... If only I could comprehend

Now you're old enough to face it ''rabble'' = society. ''Rabble's stones give pain'' is
Rabble's stones give pain a comparison to the medieval lapidation, the rabble gives Hit you as they watch you tracks pain because, as metioned before, one, as an outsider doesnt Apart from the way that they understand go along with the others and they dont like that... that they understand'' stand for the stupidity, ignorance and inexperience of the most people, also for their gossipry and sensation seeking. ''as they watch your tracks'' hints at unfreedom and surveillance state.

well that's just my personal interpretation but i tink i
understood ist the right way...could have described it better
because theres much more behind it all..
btw im german, living near edguy's home town and i hate this
                                          world and society ; )
                                          anyhow...edguy rocks \m/

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
