Touching ground Going home to those I miss
Safe and sound Weeks of exile turn to bliss
But there's something in her voice When she is calling me
A trace of blood to lead me
Through roads of agony With blood taste in my mouth
And clouds before my eyes
I kneel beside the bed Where my bleeding dryad lies

Three young souls in misery

Hitting ground Nausea wakes me up at dawn
Hopes are found
Dissected, turned and then
Withdrawn
A chair of steel and wire Her legs are open wide
Helpless in myself I stand there cold beside
The doctors stay away Leave us with this dismay
To see the colours of a miracle Fade and turn to gray

Then a cry and rivers of blood Flow so sadly
bringing you
Our dreams pour into a cold tray Two young souls in misery
Missing you

I never knew your name but I will miss you just the same
I was to live for you I lost the will to live at all the day you came
It'll never be the same but I will love you just the same
You were to be the first, how wonderful
Now I will always fear to hope again

The irony Of seeing me whispering through her skin
So joyfully To our child there deep within
Or of when she called to me To tell me cheerfully
That she had seen your shape On a hospital screen
And of nurses being concerned That you never moved or turned
Too late we see the warnings Too late we learn

I never saw your face and now you're gone without a trace
Except the trace of blood that's deeply scarred into my eyes To fill your place
It'll never be the same but I will love you just the same
I was prepared to be your father How can I ever prepare for that again?

Still I follow that trace of blood Always leading back to you
Hollow years of damming that flood Two young souls in misery

Missing you... missing you...

Oh my god, I've only noticed just today that this song isn't just about her having a miscarriage. He's directly RESPONSIBLE for the miscarriage. I don't know how I didn't notice this before...

"Touching ground Going home to those I miss Safe and sound Weeks of exile turn to bliss"

The 'weeks of exile turning to bliss' is sexual inactivity due to the pregnancy. They decide to be passionate for the first time in weeks even though she is pregnant.

"But there's something in her voice When she is calling me A trace of blood to lead me Through roads of agony With blood taste in my mouth"

The 'calling me' is her crying out in pleasure, but he notices that there is also something wrong. He notices the trace of blood coming from her, and he has the taste of blood in his mouth due to cunnilingus.

I totally agree and it's a sad song but is Remedy Lane a concept? Fandago talks about a lonely dude and a slut and everyone knows some stds don't help births very much if you know what I mean.

Remedy Lane is a concept album, it's about how love and sex, and how the two can be tangled up in one another.

this is based on daniel's experiences, during the recording of entropia ('97 or '98), his wife suffered a mis-carriage, so daniel wrote this song...and since it fit with the theme of the album, he used it

in addition, the dryad he refers to in the first verse is the 'dryad of the woods'...in other words, his wife.

This song is about a baby, getting born dead; "I never knew your name.." Even before they had thought out a name for it, it was dead already.

"During the recording of 'Entropia' (our first album) me and my wife had a miscarriage and it was very hard on us. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was not the loss of a tiny organic something, to me it was the loss of several lives - the child and the life he/she would have had and the lives me and my wife would have had. History took a sharp turn for us that day and I cannot leave it behind altogether. That mix of joy, grief and anger is also found in the music and the lyric of the song I think. A struggle."

Definitely my favorite PoS song. I love how Daniel combines lugubrious lyrics with an upbeat melody. And the guitar solo is simply wonderful.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
