"Castles in the Sand" as written by and Levine/eaton/west/mccollum/whited/rogers....
(da da da da da etc)

Built a perfect house in a perfect town
Dreamt a perfect dream and it all fell down
We held on tight like hungry lovers
Watched the day break from beneath the covers
Had to know for sure what it's all about

Oh, this should be easy
Oh, just tell me we're happy

Just building castles in the sand
(da da na na, da da na na)

I saw the naked light and it burned my eyes
Couldn't look away, no matter how I tried
I watched you explode when you think it's over
Burst in colour like a super nova
Had to track you down, had to find you out

Oh, this should be easy
Oh, just tell me we're happy

Just building castles in the sand
Just building castles in the sand

The tides roll in and waves get closer
And knock us over and we get stronger every time

We build our castles in the sand
Built a perfect house in a perfect town
Dreamt a perfect dream and it all fell down

Oh, just tell me we're happy

Just building castles in the sand
Just building castles in the sand
Just building castles in the sand
Just building castles in the sand

General CommentGerald Eaton and his wife have been together for a long time. He has stated in an interview that he has loved her since he was 16. I come from a similar relationship. I met my husband when I was 16, he loved me and he patiently waited for seven years for me to realize he was IT. He was my best friend, he stuck by me when no one else would and eventually I fell in love with him. We've been together - as a couple - for 10 years now. We have six children. Our life is never easy, never runs smoothly - never seems to let up.

Castles In The Sand means everything to me. To me, it is the story of my life. My husband and I and family build something and we feel like everything is finally going wonderfully - but inevitably - because that is the way life is - something happens and knocks us off our feet. But, it doesn't matter because we just take hands and keep going - we rebuild and rebuild and rebuild. What we build is beautiful - a castle - a castle in the sand. Unstable, uncertain.

Everytime we get knocked down we grow a little closer and we get a little stronger.

To me, Castles in the Sand is what life - and true love - is all about. Being in it together - for the long haul - sustaining each other through the trials and struggles we all face. Being happy - no matter how hard things get - because you're together and that is what counts.

General CommentI love this song! I think it's about having everything planned out perfectly and then falling madly in love with someone, being totally passionate about your love and realizing that's all u ever needed. It was that simple.

General CommentBuilding castles in the sand you put so much work into making it as perfect as possible, but eventually you know for sure the tide will wash it all away, yet we can't help but make it as great as we can. This song sounds like a relationship in turmoil. You try your best to make everything perfect but maybe perfection isn't what they needed. The relationship falls apart but they get back together and make it better every time, never giving up.
