"Wasted" as written by Troy Verges, Marv Green and Hillary Lee Lindsey....
Standing at the back door
She tried to make it fast
One tear hit the hard wood
It fell like broken glass
She said sometimes love slips away
And you just can't get it back
Let's face it

For one split second
She almost turned around
But that would be like pouring rain drops
Back into a cloud
So she took another step and said
I see the way out, and I'm gonna take it

I don't wanna spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I let all these years go by
Wasted

Another glass of whiskey but it still don't kill the pain
So he stumbles to the sink and pours it down the drain
He said it's time to be a man and stop living for yesterday
Gotta face it

'Cause I don't wanna spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I let all these years go by
Wasted

Oh, I don't wanna keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain't spending no more time
Wasted

She kept drivin' along
Till the moon and the sun were floating side-by-side
He looked in the mirror and his eyes were clear
For the first time in a while, hey, yeah

Oh, I don't wanna spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I let all these years go by
Wasted

Oh, I don't wanna keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain't spending no more time
Wasted

Oh, I don't wanna spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I let all these years go by
Wasted, yeah, yeah

Oh, I don't wanna keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain't spending no more time
Wasted

General CommentSuch a beautiful song... especially when she sings:

"I don't wanna spend my life jaded
Waitin' to wake up one day and find
That I let all these years go by
    Wasted"

Carrie can sing so beautifully. I love it.

But anyway, this song is basically about how someone needs to move on with their life and take risks. Not every thing in life can be perfect, you just have to take a chance every now and then or you're going to regret it.

General Commentawesome song i think it is about someone wasting time thinking and not doing... i mean i know you need to think before you do things but i think this song is talking about how some people spend so much time thinking about it they never actually act on what they want to do... so when the person finally does it they realize that it was smart to go ahead with it... instead of always "planning" to do it... its just a wonderful song!!! i love it!!

General Commentsounds to me like a break up song and saying how its a waste of time to keep holding on to the past and just best to move on and find someone new and be happy instead of holding on the pain and sadness of the past.

General Commenti think this is for sure about a break up. but i dont get why dont they try at it again. obviously they both have feelings for each other still. and i think the couple have both turned to drinking to cope. and unfortunatly have become addictedd. which explains wasted. or mabe just the man is using alcohol and the woman is just wasting her life by doing nothing.

General CommentTo me, this song is about two people who loved each other deeply; but then the man lets alcohol control his life, and he spends all of his time wasted. The woman stays with him for a long time, hoping he will change; but he has withdrawn from life and from her. One day she finally decides to leave, because she can't stand to see their love and his life slip away, and she doesn't want to waste any more time on a hopeless cause and on a life without love. When she leaves, he finally wakes up. He decides to stop drinking and wasting his life. Once his eyes are clear, she drives until the sun and moon align, which is back into his arms, as neither wants to spend their life wasting any more time without the other.

    General Commentit's not a break-up song guys ;P.

    it's about living your life
& not taking it for granted,
    as opposed to doing nothing
    & having it be wasted.

she just used the boy & girl as examples.
    they're both heartbroken,
but they both realize that they're too caught up with whatever happened in the past.
"he said, 'it's time to be a man & stop living for yesterday'"
he realizes he needs to move on.

i love this song & carrie is just amazing! (:

General CommentThis song rocks!! Carrie Underwood can belt this one out beautifully.

    I agree with headoverheels!!! It's not a break-up song.

She loved him but realized she was waisting her life with him, so she left. He then realized what he had done by drinking, waisting his own life and pushing her away and then went after her. (the song doesn't state this, but it's what happens in the video)
