Hit the pavement and drive for the first time in a long time
And pray that everything works out fine
She said try to have a good time
And get your fill of cheap thrills
And try anything to save a dime
So lets get moving, and lets get grooving
To every single word weve grown to know
Until we get car sick, play our hands quick
And try to save ourselves along the way

Youre a gamble
And Ive got nothing left to lose or prove
You think you got me in the back of you pocket and you do
So take a breath and try to keep it down
Cuz I love these girls but I hate this town
But Im positive that theres nothing about you to get to know

Hit the lights and get down for the best time in a long time
And try to think of every last line
She said, Try to have a good time,
Dont put up with the hard hits,
Theyll just hit you harder every time
That you get moving, youll just keep losing
What little but of mind that you have left.
So try and please me, and take it easy
And try to keep your thoughts above the belt.

Youre a gamble
And Ive got nothing left to lose or prove
You think you got me in the back of you pocket and you do
So take a breath and try to keep it down
Cuz I love these girls but I hate this town
But Im positive that theres nothing about you to get to know

General Commenti think the concept of the song is just to forget everything and start living life again with a new way of thinking - which is to love life for being alive and have a good time. not sure

General CommentHit the pavement and drive for the first time in a long time
And pray that everything works out fine
She said try to have a good time
And get your fill of cheap thrills
And try anything to save a dime
So let's get moving, and let's get grooving
To every single word we couldn't know
Til we get carsick and play our hands quick
And try to save ourselves along the way

You're a gamble; you've got nothing left to lose
You think you got me in the back of your pocket, you do
So take a breath and try to keep it down
Cause I love these girls but I hate this town
But I'm positive that there's nothing about you to get to know

    OH!

    -insane breakdown/bridge-

You're a gamble; you've got nothing left to lose
You think you got me in the back of your pocket, you do
So take a breath and try to keep it down
Cause I love these girls but I hate this town

i think raptor's pretty much right about the meaning.

but it could also go with a relationship.
driving and praying that things work out fine are ways of coping with struggles.
'last lines' could mean they won't see each other for awhile, which could explain these struggles and the advice 'she' gives to him.
the first lines of the chorus describe someone deep into someone else ("you think you got me in the back of your pocket, you do", etc.)

but i can't help but think the last line of the chorus ("but i'm positive that there's nothing about you to get to know") can be applied to how most people generically say 'get to know me' when they're pretty much the same as everyone else.
or maybe he's teasing the girl for saying it?

i dunno, just what i thought. xD

General Commentthe "or prove" is in the demo version which is what i'm guessing the person who wrote out these lyrics had been listening to.

General Commentcan't stop listening to this song at the moment
'you're a gamble, i've got nothing left to lose
you think you got me in the back of your pocket you do
take a breath, and try to keep it down
cos i love these girls but i hate this town
but i'm positive there's nothing about you to get to know'
that for me atm just applies really well to how i'm feeling about everything right now, my friends, the city i live in, and the way i feel about the guy i like
    i love four year strong
i intend on seeing them very soon :)

My OpinionI almost feel bad for the people who have not yet discovered this amazing band.

True, these guys are definitely getting more and more popular, but with their highest comments/song being 17 currently... There's definitely going to be a boom I'm sure.

General Commentin my opinion, i think this song is about being in a band and touring and playing shows.

Hit the pavement and drive for the first time in a long time
And pray that everything works out fine
She said try to have a good time
And get your fill of cheap thrills
And try anything to save a dime
So lets get moving, and lets get grooving
To every single word we've grown to know
Until we get car sick, play our hands quick
And try to save ourselves along the way

-this part is self explanatory, being on the road, hanging out

You're a gamble; you've got nothing left to lose
You think you got me in the back of your pocket, you do
So take a breath and try to keep it down
Cause I love these girls but I hate this town
But I'm positive that there's nothing about you to get to know

-saying the music industry is a gamble, and it "has him in the back of its pocket" because he truly loves music and will do anything to live out the dream. i dunno what the girls part is about. maybe groupies lol.

Hit the lights and get down for the last time in a long time
And try to think of every last line
She said try to have a good time
Don't put up with the hard hits
They'll just hit you harder every time
That you get moving; you'll just keep losing
What little bit of mind that you have left
So try and please me, but take it easy
And try to keep your thoughts above the belt

    - first few lines could possibly be about playing the last show before taking a break. and then the next few lines are about not giving a shit about what the critics have to say.

yep, that's my take on it.
