"Wasteland" as written by and Daniel/palomar Layus....
Now I'm sitting on a plane
Lonely flight back to L.A.
Don't come back with me
So I'll drink myself to sleep
Cut my skin until I bleed
Hold my breath all the night

'Cause it's 5 o'clock
The hour stops the sunlight
And the buildings shade the masquerade and kill time

Hear the sound
She was naked on the ground
Til I whispered in her ear
Come away, watch the dawn break through the day
'Til the sun is underneath

'Cause it's 5 o'clock
The hour stops the sunlight
And the buildings shade the masquerade and kill time
Here we're nothing more than fools and whores and sad highs
Through the summer sand, we're living in
We're living in the wasteland

It's a wasteland
It's a wasteland
It's a wasteland for me
And we're nothing more than fools and whores and sad highs
Through the summer sand, we're living in
We're living in a wasteland

Here we're nothing more than fools and whores and sad highs
Through the summer sand, we're living in
We're living in a wasteland

It's a wasteland
It's a wasteland
It's a wasteland for me
For me

General CommentThis is and Coffee and Cig's are my favoirte Augy songs but this is the best in my opinion.

This whole album is so raw and backed by true feelings and I was really let down by their new album cuz it lost so much of that passion. That is the usual flaw with sophomore ablums but I still love my Stars and Blvds Album.

General CommentI love this song, i cant decide which is my favorite, wasteland or boston. Oh well, guess it doesnt matter either way. I really like how the song starts off softly and kind of slow, then it gets louder and more powerful, just to become soft again and then to cresendo into where the lead singer screams WASTELAND! with such passion. The number one thing that i base a song on is by how passionate the singer seems to be about his music, and wow, this is pure passion. Great song.

General CommentI think it's about a guy who met a girl and they ended up hooking up, but he knows that they can't be together.

"And the buildings shade the masquerade and kill time"
Maybe he feels like he wasn't honest with her.

"Here we're nothing more than fools and whores and sad highs
Through the summer sand, we're living in
    We're living in the wasteland"
They're just another two people running into each other on their trip through life and are bound to just brush it off and move on.

His come-and-go lifestyle is a "wasteland" because nothing is precious because of it. The "sad high" could be sex, drugs, or another vice. (I think it's sex).

    Just my thoughts.

General CommentHe left his girl back on the east coast on his way back to LA and it's eating him up inside. That pretty much sums it up.

General Commenti don't think it's entirely about love.
    i mean it's the base,
but if you really think about it,
just like every other song you love a lot..
it can mean so much more.

but this is by far my favorite augustana song.
and maybe even my favorite song ever.

General CommentI think it's about his life is empty, but he meets this girl who can change it all. Except she doesn't know, and moves on, and now he's empty again. "We're nothing more than fools and whores and sad highs."
