Can you promise, a better ending, than the direction that this one has been heading?
Yes you’ve fallen through a trap door of detriment, sorrow, and misorder.
Alone and lying in scattered pieces, but do the best to please the ones you love.
You’ve got to get it all together, but you can’t even seem to tie your own shoelace.

It’s all in your head. Let it go.
It’s all in your head. Clicking your heals will take you home.

It’s a crazy situation the way that you’ve been stuck hard on your luck, pressing your luck. Trying to be anything, but anything won’t let you be yourself

Well it’s all right. Take a deep breath. Close your eyes and wish it all away.
You’re so anxious for tomorrow, but you haven’t even made it through today.
And you wonder what it might be like if you had only listened to your voice for once.
Is this string of bad luck ending? You’d be nothing if you hadn’t kept pretending.

It’s all in your head. Let it go.
It’s all in your head. Clicking your heals will take you home.

It’s a crazy situation the way that you’ve been stuck hard on your luck pressing your luck, trying to be anything but anything won’t let you be yourself.

Please your lips with mine, to help distract the time from eating us away.
It’s all in your head. Let it go.

It’s a crazy situation the way that you’ve been stuck hard on your luck, pressing your luck, trying to be anything, but anything won’t let you be yourself.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
