My Interpretationpagans, christians or any other religious beliefs points towards god.
this song in my view explains why to fight for your god or my god. god is same for everyone and everybody. He/she/they(god/gods) may be one, two or many more--- this is a belief. probably everybody's belief. why do we need to destroy other people's god. lets not fight for my or your god... god is same for everybody, its a belief why cant we believe in other people's beliefs. lets believe in other people's belief.-- walking the fine line between pagan n christian
    for the lov of god.

General CommentHe does a very beautiful live version on the G3 96 album, and on the end of it he makes these guitar noises.. like the singing of killer whales, man that part really touches me every time.. there's something so powerful about it.

General CommentIf you watch the video, you'd see that the song's about all the horrible things the human race has wrongly done to deserve God's love.

However, in the video, the end line is changed to "We may be human, but we are still animals."

Really, the meaning is the same. Not matter how hard we try to better ourselves with actions and beliefs, we are still animals. And no matter how hard we try to believe or disbelieve in a higher power, we always walk the line and run in circles.

General CommentTo answer the inspiration question, Steve decided to fast for 10 days. On the 4th day he wrote this song. This where "The Aching Hunger" comes from, his fasting.
