"The Price" as written by and Daniel Dee Snider....
How long I have wanted
This dream to come true
And as it approaches
I can´t believe I´m through

I´ve tried, oh
How I´ve tried
For a life, yes a life
I thought I knew

Oh it´s the price we gotta pay
And all the games we gotta play
Makes me wonder if it´s worth it to carry on
'Cause it´s a game we gotta lose
Though it´s a life we gotta choose
And the price is our own life until it´s done

Time seems to have frozen
But the mind can be fooled
As the days passed I discovered
Destiny just can´t be ruled

Hard times, oh
Hard times
For the price, yes the price,
I thought I knew

Oh it´s the price we gotta pay
And all the games we gotta play
makes me wonder if it´s worth it to carry on
´Cause it´s a game we gotta lose
Though it´s a life we gotta choose
And the price is our own life until it´s done

Oh it´s the price we gotta pay
And all the games we gotta play
makes me wodner if it´s worth it to carry on
'Cause it´s a game we gotta lose
Though it´s a life we gotta choose
And the price is our own life until it´s done

Oh it´s the price we gotta pay
And all the games we gotta play
makes me wonder if it´s worth it to carry on
'Cause it´s a game we gotta lose
Though it´s a life we gotta choose
And the price is our own life until it´s done

General CommentI think this song is about how they made it but it was with the help of everybody else that supported them.

General CommentOn House of Hair he said it was about his first child being born, and his having to be on the road away from his wife and kid for his music and how much it tore at him.

General Commenti think it's saying life is one big game in which we ultimately lose no matter how hard we tried

General CommentGreat song. I agree it's Twisted Sister's best. I am sad to say I bought this album in 1985 when I was just a kid but really did not discover this song until I was 20 or so. What a great tune.

Agree with above. It's about life at the struggle to get what you want. It's tough but in the end it will cost you your life. Really a good song that still sounds great today.

General CommentI think it's about how someone waits for his time to shine but as it turns out he's already missed his chance and now he's regretting his failure to grasp that once in his life chance and is pay his price.I subject may be about his career , ambition or even a girl, that he lost to another man. It's best by Twisted sisters

General CommentThis is different to the intended meaning of the song, which I think is more general, but I've put it into a specific context to fit one of my role play characters as their "theme song". My character is called Reilly Gorane and he's a werewolf hunter, occasionally running into other supernaturals he has to defend against. Basically he has to choose that lifestyle because otherwise people will die if he doesn't, and he feels compelled to be the one to step in and help defend people from them and occasionally against other monsters. He'll even defend benign supernaturals against others if they need it.

He knows that one day he will eventually die from being ripped apart by them or at least killed, as soon as he faces a too-strong opponent. Yet as he approaches his inevitable violent death he struggles on, knowing he's got a cause he can not abandon no matter how much it destroys his own life and happiness.

My OpinionHonestly I thought this song was about death, because someone was unhappy with their live and they wanted to end it. But someone else is telling them life is full of challenges you just have to be strong to fight for what you want, once you fought for it hold on to it with your life and you will have paid the ultimate price which is your own life
