"To The Ground" as written by and Derek Gledhill Ryan Martin....
You are my light
You are my fire

The only one that's not a lie

You get me through all of my days
And keep me numb to the pain

When I'm lonely
When I'm calling out
Scream for a friend
You always hear the sound
Keep me happy
Keep me happy now
When all the world around
Crumbles to the ground

Crumbles to the ground

You keep me calm when I'm not fine
You take the pressure off of mind

And even though I don't see clear
I feel safe cause your here

When I'm lonely
When I'm calling out
Scream for a friend
You always hear the sound
Keep me happy
Keep me happy now
When all the world around
Crumbles to the ground

Crumbles to the ground

Mind's too fucked up
To really see
To really see

Your the best friend
Who's killing me
It's killing me

You get me through all of my days
And keep me numb to the pain

When I'm lonely
When I'm calling out
Scream for a friend
You always hear the sound
Keep me happy
Keep me happy now
When all the world around
Crumbles to the ground

Crumbles to the ground
Crumbles to the ground
Crumbles to the ground

General CommentIt pains me to see how few people have posted to the SES anxiety album.

Well this song to me is plain and simple. Its about how shitty the world, and life in general can be, and about how people aren't always there for you. Its about how drugs, more specifically alcohoel can make you feel good, when nothing else can.

"You get me through all of my days
And keep me numb to the pain!!"

General CommentHis whole life is falling apart and the only way for him to cope is to drink or do drugs and that makes him feel better. But then later in the song he starts to doubt the alcohol/drugs and thinks maybe they are what's ruining his life.

General Commentwow i feel like an idiot. i never made the alcohol/drug connection. i always thought it was about a person.

it connects way better than him talking about a person.

General CommentWell you can look at it more then one way. I beleive he wrote it about a drug addiction however you can also say its about a person. Most likely drugs if you listen to specific lyrics like "even though i cant see clear" the drugs have effected him. He turns to drugs when the world is too mucha nd feels comforted by them.

General Commenti reckon its just basicaly a thankyou note to one of his friends who has always been there for him throughout the tough times in his life. whenever he needed help with stuff, drugs relationships and everythign else he was always there for him. all the song except for one line points to that for me at least.
    'Your the best friend
    Who's killing me
    It's killing me...'
thats the only part im sure of, maybe the friend is one thats getting him into these postions as well as helping get out of them.

General CommentThe drug and alcohol connection makes most sense to me, but to be completely honest, the first thing that came to mind when I heard this song was his relationship with God. I know Smile Empty Soul is not a religious/Christian band, but that's the way I interpreted it at first. I like that view the most even though it's probably not the true meaning.

    For example,
"And even though I don't see clear
I feel safe cause your here"

None of us really sees life clearly, but with God, we feel safe.
    I don't know, just a thought.
