"Sam Malone" as written by and Dallas Green....
And you can try to fight this all you want
But I won't be there, I won't be there when you're all alone
This new season that brings with it the signs of hope, oh
Now you can't leave me, you can't leave me waiting all alone, alone

And I know, there is some place I can go
Where no one knows my name

And I still remember, you know I can still hear your voice, your voice
Although your silence, your silence still rings so clear
And do you think and do you think I would call just to hear you breathe?
Breathe, breathe, breathe
You always knew, you always knew that just one word would dry up
All my tears

And I know there is someplace I can go
Where no one knows my name, my name
No one knows my name
Where no one knows my name

General CommentForgive me for being thick, but does that line "Do you think that I would call just to hear you breathe?" just mean that when he called her, she just didn't speak? If so why?

General Commentyea i was reading somewhere that the bartender from cheers name was sam malone so its def a cheers refrence. i remmber talking to a friend and we were descusing the fact that it could be a play on words (sam malone-say im alone).

General CommentThis is deffinitly a "Cheers" refference song.

    And I know there is
    some place I can go
Where, where no one knows my name

    the theme for "Cheers" is

    Dont you wish
you could have somewhere to go
    where everyone knows your name

and Sam Malone is the Bar tender for this bar, and as for mr.2nd coming's "play on words" , Good job :) i had never noticed it before, but its quite clever.

General Commentwell in reference to the play on words, it could possibly be an adaption of australian rhyming slang, where some who is said to be on their "pat malone" is someone who is alone

    just another possibility?
