Leave well enough alone,
Fill an empty room
With empty glasses.
The chances I've had I have blown
But there's something left.

Hiding deep inside
What i've always wanted.
How helpless I am I have shown
That I don't know what to do.
I wanted you.

So in other words
You're exactly what I've been looking for.
You were right,
When you told me I was wrong.
I guess it doesn't matter now.

Now desperate
All the comfort I have here is cold.
I feel like a mess and it shows
That I'm tired of wasting

What's been deep inside
But I've kept you waiting.
How helpless I am I have shown
That I don't know what to do
About wanting you.

So in other words,
You're exactly what I've been looking for.
It's all right.
Until all we have is gone,
Make every second count.
Stay and watch the lights go out.

One by one
Until all we have left
Is our own little world

So in other words,
You're exactly what I've been looking for.
It's all right.
Until all we have is gone,
Make every second count.
Stay and watch the lights go out.

My InterpretationThe way this sounds to me is he is in a relationship that is bumpy, he doesn't want her when she wants him, and she doesn't want him when he wants her, etc, and in the end, it won't last, but in the moment, he knows he loves this girl, so he's going to try and make the best of it while he can.

I could be totally off. Any other thoughts or interpretations?

General Commentin my opinion he had been hiding and fighting the way he really felt about someone. now he is finally realizing there's no way out but in, but he thinks it might just be too late.
