She's got the kind of look that defies gravity
She's the greatest cook
And she's fat free

She's been to private school
And she speaks perfect French
She's got the perfect friends
Oh isn't she cool?

She practices Tai Chi
She'd never lose her nerve
She's more than you deserve
She's just far better than me

Hey, hey

So don't bother
I won't die of deception
I promise you won't ever see me cry
Don't feel sorry

And don't bother
I'll be fine
But she's waiting
The ring you gave to her will lose its shine
So don't bother, be unkind

I'm sure she doesn't know
How to touch you like I would
I beat her at that one good
Don't you think so?

She's almost six feet tall
She must think I'm a flea
I'm really a cat, you see
And it's not my last life at all

Hey, hey

So don't bother
I won't die of deception
I promise you won't ever see me cry
Don't feel sorry

Don't bother
I'll be fine
But she's waiting
The ring you gave to her will lose its shine
So don't bother, be unkind

For you, I'd give up all I own
And move to a communist country
If you came with me, of course
And I'd file my nails so they don't hurt you
And lose those pounds, and learn about football
If it made you stay, but you won't, but you won't

So don't bother
I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
I promise you won't ever see me cry

And after all I'm glad that I'm not your type
I promise you won't ever see me cry

Don't bother
I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
I promise you won't ever see me cry

And after all I'm glad that I'm not your type
Not your type, not your type, not your type
I promise you won't ever see me cry

it obviously talks about his boyfriend that broke up with her telling her she was not her type. After some time he's in love with another girl that seems out to be perfect she's everything and more than any man can wish for. Anyway she is still in love with him and is very hurt because he broke his heart, but after all she knows she won't die...she will endure the situation and go on. Though she is up to do anything for her ex.

Um, to B12..yeah..STFU. You did that because your sister had the song on repeat for the last two hours? Yeah, well the only thing gathered from your unoriginal mindless babble was the fact that you have no life.

Sure, the lyrics aren't very sophisticated but who the fu_k are you to judge who does and does not have a good singing voice. And a slut? What part of this video or song could possibly imply she's a slut?

Yeah, please go find another way to rant because your comment above was just a complete waste of time.

It's not an affair... Shakira doesn't sing about being a whore and stealing people's boyfriends... she writes about giving all of herself to someone and being hurt by that person... this song fits that mold exactly... she did all she could but could not compete with this perfect girl... in all honesty, this CAN'T possibly be about a real event in her life, because a girl like that can't get dumped... or at least I wouldn't break up with her... This other chick doesn't even sound that good... almost six feet tall... that's fucking humongous... I'm 5'3, so Shakira's little self is much more appealing than some giant... and who cares if she speaks perfect French? Shakira knows, what, like 5 languages... and Spanish sounds much sexier than the phlegm-y french...

i always thought it was about a guy that left shakira for someone else... and she's obviously describing her, and being likem "yeah, she's cool, but i don't even care anymore if you're going to be like that, cause you're stupid."

    just the feeling i get.

to me, this deals with infedelity and cheating. Its almost as if she was the girl that the guy cheated on his girlfriend with.... she seems prideful in the aspect that she wont cry. In the beginning she could be describing his "perfect" girlfriend...

I agree, it sounds like she's 'the other woman' or the mistress, rather, in this song, and the guy who they're both with is about to get married to his girlfriend. Interesting song for her, when you take away the cookie-cutter "Kelly Clarkson" feel to it.

Nooo sorry Lauris45 I agree more with the others in saying that its from the 'other womans' point of view.

She clearly wants the guy to choose her over his girlfriend...who is now his finace: "The ring you gave to her will lose its shine" She's willing to do anything to make him stay...Even move to a communist country :/ lol But he won't stay....Because she's not his type.. maybe she was just a bit of fun for him, and it'd never be more than just sex for him.. or something along those lines

anywho thats my perception and its probably wrong so dont shout at me lol

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way.
