"A Disruption in the Normal Swing of Things" as written by Tim Kasher, Matthew Ryan Maginn, Steve Mark Pedersen, Clint Frederick Schnase and Ted James Stevens....
The days are spent
Chatting amongst the workers
Of how cold it is outside
Not to mention their greatest fears
Like finding their children neglected and naked
In battle for with some crack fiends, like a substitute for love
And no one notices something disrupting the normal swing of things
These hands are shaking
The gloves are touching me
Reaper's regret
This memory have weakened
Now I recall everything
What's with all the commotion?
I swear there's nothing to see here
You didn't see it coming
Already
This is the part where the ambulance comes
There's a dead man in the street; we gotta take him to the morgue
He can't be here; he's been blocking traffic for hours
We can't find him help his will something's disrupting the normal swing of things
This institution will run efficiently
Standard regrets
Send the misses our regards
Sign it deepest sympathies
Sympathies: some patronage for the weak
I swallowed some musk and now I'm choking it up
I refuse to say they won; I win the poison all mixed up in my head
On my head all those phonies were liars
I don't (repeated screaming)
I don't need this
Let's disappear
Break it down [Repeat x9]
I don't need this
Sympathy
I don't need this

General Commenti can't believe no one's commented on this song. it's by far my favorite cursive song.

no doubt that 'the difference between houses and homes' was a grade-A cd of 2005, despite everything being from so long ago. this song always hit me because of the catchy hook when the song immediately gets underway. the scream at the end is wrenching. perfect mixtape fodder.

what is it about? life's daily tragedies. and how you might be better off ignoring them.

General Commentit seems like sweeping things under the carpet until it boils up.

    sweeping:
"I swear there’s nothing to see here"

    boiling:
"I swallowed some musk and now I’m choking it up
I refuse to say they won; I win the poison all mixed up in my head"

though thats just my take on it

General CommentThis is one of my favorite songs of all time.
It's too bad these lyrics are so pathetically wrong.

General CommentI think that "In battle for with some crack fiends, like a substitute for love" sounds more like "And venomously grasping, like a substitute for love".

    ...but that's just me

General CommentThe best version of this song was off The Disruption 7". The version on The Difference Between Houses and Homes is a joke.

General CommentI'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying that's what it sounds like to me.

General CommentThe last part is all wrong after he says "some patronage for the weak"

    It should read as follows

I swallowed so much that now I'm choking it up, I refuse to sit and wallow in the poisons that they dropped on our house on our heads on our shoulders and arms I've washed this side a thousand times I think it seems redundant now I don't need this this just won't do, breaking down, breaking down, breaking down...sympathy...I don't need this
