"Route 66" as written by and Bob Troup....
Well if you ever plan to motor west
Travel my way
Take the highway that's the best
Get your kicks on Route 66

Well it winds from Chicago
To LA
More than two thousand miles
All the way
Get your kicks on Route 66

Well it goes to St. Louis
Down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty
You'll see Amarillo
Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona
Don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino

If you get hip to this kind of trip
And go take that California trip
Get your kicks on Route 66

Well it goes to St. Louis
Down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty
You'll see Amarillo
Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona
Don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino

If you get hip to this kind of trip
And go take that California trip
Get your kicks on Route 66

General CommentNot a typical DM song, it does not seem to have too much depth to it's meaning. ...It is a cool highway though.

General CommentIt's actually, "if you get hip to KINDLY tip
It's a cover. That's why it sounds nothing like them.
But I like it (originally I didn't, now I know why) now that I read about it.

General CommentI was quite surprised when I first listened to this song -I agree with brian w- it sounds really different to other DM- songs. But I like Depeche Mode to be a bit more "rockin'". Great Highway song. I can really imagine riding down the 66 on a Harley while listening ;)

My OpinionThis is a song that asks for fan fiction to be written about it (road trip, tour of cities along Route 66, etc).
