You don't know me
Like you knew me
You stopped listening
The moment I needed you most
You can't see me
Like you saw me
Truth comes easy
But it's hard for you to pull me from the ground
So I scream, scream cause it hurts
Your every word
Cuts me inside and leaves me worse
There's no way back
And what if there was
You'd still be you and
It'd still need to say goodbye
Maybe you don't
Love me
Like I love you baby
Cause the broken in you doesn't make me run
There is beauty
In the dark side
I'm not firhgtened
Without it I could never feel the sun
Nothing will change no matter what you say
I'm still gonna be the same
The harder we try, the harder that we fight, can't get it right You don't know me
Like you knew me
You stopped listening
The moment I needed you most
You can't see me
Like you saw me
Truth comes easy
But it's hard for you to pull me from the ground
So I scream, scream cause it hurts
Your every word
Cuts me inside and leaves me worse
There's no way back
And what if there was
You'd still be you and
It'd still need to say goodbye
Maybe you don't
Love me
Like I love you baby
Cause the broken in you doesn't make me run
There is beauty
In the dark side
I'm not firhgtened
Without it I could never feel the sun
Nothing will change no matter what you say
I'm still gonna be the same
The harder we try, the harder that we fight, can't get it right

this song reminds me of something lindsay lohan would sing. (and it's not a good thing). the melody of the verses is annoying--very amateur sounding.

i LOVE the lyrics..but not the music, or the vocals, thats just me. the lyrics are amazing though

shes kindof saying that [obviously] she really needed someone and when she did, is when they werent there. sounds like she wants to give up, but only because they feel like giving up..the "broken in them" doesnt "make her run" but shes afraid that the broken in her will make THEM run. and that no matter how hard they try, it just keeps getting worse

    thats just me though

To me it means that as much as she wants it to work, it can't and won't, this part espcailly shows this: "There's no way back And what if there was You'd still be you and It'd still need to say goodbye "

i LOVE the part thats like 'theres no way back, but if there was you'd still be you and id still need to say goodbye'...its awesome because its true...like if it wasnt a good relationship because it obv failed cuz he was a dick or something and why wish for things to be back where they were or for the guy back because he'd still be the same asshole and you'd still end up saying 'goodbye'...thats why i like this song cuz its so true, once an ass always an ass.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
