Let's go!

With blood shot eyes, I watch you sleeping
The warmth I feel beside me is slowly fading
Would she hear me, if I called her name?
Would she hold me, if she knew my shame?

There's always something different going on
The path I walk is in the wrong direction
There's always someone fucking hanging on
Can anybody help me make things better?

Tears
Your tears don't fall, they crash around me
Her conscious calls, the guilty to come home
Your tears don't fall, they crash around me
Her conscious calls, the guilty to come home

The moments died, I hear no screaming
The visions left inside me are slowly fading
Would she hear me, if I called her name?
Would she hold me, if she knew my shame?

There's always something different going on
The path I walk is in the wrong direction
There's always someone fucking hanging on
Can anybody help me make things better?

Tears
Your tears don't fall, they crash around me
Her conscious calls, the guilty to come home
Your tears don't fall, they crash around me
Her conscious calls, the guilty to come home

Oh, yeah

This battered room I've seen before
The broken bones they heal no more, no more
With my last breath I'm choking
Will this ever end I'm hoping
My world is over one more time

Let's go!

Your tears don't fall, they crash around me (tears don't fall)
Her conscious calls, the guilty to come (conscience calls)

Better!

Your tears don't fall, they crash around me
Her conscious calls, the guilty to come home (conscience calls)

Definately about a broken relationship, but I think it has a little more to it than 'just a love song'.

I think it's about a guy who in in love with a girl but he does something that hurts her a lot: "Would she hold me if she if she knew my shame?"

I think perhaps he has a past that is coming back to haunt him, or perhaps he cheated on her: "There's always something different going wrong... ...There's always someone fucking hanging on"

He talks about her tears not 'falling' but instead they seem to "crash around" him- so her pain is really felt by him and he is really remorseful.

When I saw them live a few weeks ago, Matt dedicated it to "all the couples out there... all the people who are in loooove..." so I think it's a message about being true and staying strong. Good song, I like it. Has a romance to it.

    Song Meaning

Let me Just Clear up The REAL MEANING for this song. It's about the guy who loves this girl but cant seem to please her. She's always crying and he cant help. So in some twisted way to help her and himself he Kills Her.

I think the song's a lot darker then you're all giving it credit for. "The moment's died, I hear no screaming" He sings this part calmly but it seems to have a 'disturbed' aura to it. Definitely not a straight up love song, as a matter of fact, he sounds quite fed up of this other person. It could be her that's hanging on to him, "There's always someone ------- hanging on" And she could be pestering him a lot as well, "There's always something different going wrong". He sings with aggression, and he's talking to the woman crying, so I don't think it quite has the meaning everybody seems to think it does.

I agree with a load of stuff everyones said and sorry if I repeate things but: I beleive it's about losing that special bond with someone knowing whats possible but how shit keeps getting in the way. The lines about someone hanging on I beleive is to the other person, always having been there liking them and now the relationships over they're being a vulture, even if the other half doesn't wonna the vulture takes advantage of someones vunerability. I don't wonna make this personal but I truely beleive thats whats going on as it's happening to me now, I listened to this song for the first time in a long while and a loada shits just happend with me n my ex, we're still close but stuff gets stupid. And as soon as I propperly read the lyrics it hit me it's about this kinda thing, maybe Matt didn't write it for that but it's certainly very accurate to how I'm feeling. Cause yes everything bad she feels is amplified and it effects me badly each time she's hurt. ie the name of the track. Anyway sorry for ranting x

I feel that the meaning of this one is somewhere in between cleanestfall's and everyone else's interpretations. I think it is kind of like he knows the relationship is dead, because of his inability to be faithful to her and the thought of her devotion to him makes him feel sick, in light of what he has done.

"Your tears don’t fall they crash around me" is such a good line. There is no louder, more terrible sound than the sound of someone you love crying because of something you have done.

I've just noticed, shouldn't it be: "Her conscience calls the guilty to come home"?

ok i think everyone here has missed something. i could be wildly wrong but here's what i get out of it...

"with bloodshot eyes i watch you sleeping" - he's not talking about sleep here... she's dead (silverstien use sleep as a metaphor for death in "smile in your sleep"). "the warmth i feel beside me slowly fading" kind of reinforces that, as her body warmth fades away. "the moment's died, i hear no screaming" also makes me think that he's the one that killed her, and now the screaming's stopped. he feels guilt for it ("her concious calls the guilty to come home"), and he know's that he's walking the path of life in the wrong direction ("the path i walk is in the wrong direction")

"would she hold me if she knew my shame?" - i think he might have killed her to be with someone else, and now he's wondering if she'd still hold him/lovehim if she knew his shame (i.e. what he'd done)

that interpretation could be way off, but the band name makes me think they'd sing about that sort of thing let me know what you think

If you've watched the video as many times as I have you would know that it's about a guy who hooks up with my girl and she seems to think that she's dating him but later in the video she walks in to see that he was hooking up with another girl and pours "gas" (actually water) on the bed that he and the other girl was in and on him and the girl and acts like she's going to set them on fire. So it's definitely about someone who's heart has been broken

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
