Believe Me

I guess that this is where we've come to
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me

Ryu:
Yo, I don't wanna be the one to blame
You like fun and games, keep playin' 'em
I'm just sayin'
Think back then we was like one and the same
On the right track, but I was on the wrong train
It's like that, now you gotta face the pain
And the devil's got a fresh new place to play
In your brain like a maze you can never escape
The rain, every damn day's the same shade of grey

Mike:
Hey, I used to have a little bit of a plan
Used to, have a concept of where I stand
But that concept slipped right outta my hand
Now, I don't really even know who I am
Yo, what do I have to say? Maybe
I should do what I have to do to break free, and
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
But its not gonna happen with me

I guess that this is where we've come to
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me

Mike:
Back then, I thought you were just like me
Somebody who could see all the pain I see
But you proved to me unintentionally
That you would self destruct eventually
Now I'm thinkin' like the mistake that I made doesn't hurt
But it's not gonna work cause its
Really much worse than I thought
I wished you were something you were not
And now this guilt is really all that I've got

Tak:
You turned your back and walk away ashamed
All you got
Is a memory and pain, nothing makes sense
You stare at the ground, and hear my voice inside your head
When no one else is around
What do I have to say
Maybe I should do what I have to do to break free, yeah
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
But it's not gonna happen to me

I guess that this is where we've come to
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me

(Yeah. Lets go)

I'm guess that this is where we've come to
(Yeah)
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
(Yeah)
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me

I'm doing what I have to do
You're on your own now believe me
Whatever happens to you
You're on your own now believe me
What do I have to say?
You're on your own now believe me
Its not gonna happen to me
You're on your own now believe me

General CommentCool song. This song is basically a break up song with a self destructive girl. I can relate, specially on Ryu and Mike's verses. Sweet song catchy hook.

General Commentthis song is great!i think that it means the girlfriend cant stand the fact that they're breaking up but the boyfriend knows that it should happen."your on your own now believe me"

another possilble meaning is that there is a sign of carma.

General CommentThe song actually reminded me of Linkin Park with Chester on the chorus.

That's beside the point. The song is about being in a relationship with someone that is so self-destructive that things need to end. You thought you knew who the other person was, and you thought you knew wo you were, but so much has gone on that the relationship can't go on anymore.

In Mike's verse he mentions feeling guilty and I think that the guilt comes from cutting the other person off. Not out of malice but because he needs to. Thus the lines in the chorus "But I, wont be there when you go down / Just so you know now /
You're on your own now, believe me".

I like the part at the end:

I'm doing what I have to do
You're on your own now believe me
    Whatever happens to you
You're on your own now believe me
What do I have to say?
You're on your own now believe me
Its not gonna happen to me
You're on your own now believe me

In 8 lines he summed up the whole song. I have to leave you, and let you destroy yourself to save me.

General Commentyeah this song is awesome. Fort minor is really the only rap music that I listen to. lol.

So yeah it's a bad realtionship, and a worse breakup. I think the girl cheated on him and he took her back but she did again and he pretty much told her to go fuck herself. He's moving on and there's nothing she can do about it, she's not gunna control him anymore. And he can tell just by the type of person she is that she's only gonna go down, but he's not gunna let this bad realtionship bring him down.

"I used to have alittle bit of a plan, used to have a concept of where I stand, but that concept slipped right outta my hand. and now I don't really even know who I am." He had put so much into this relationship and it's all gone, she was everything to him, and now that she's gone he doesn't know what to do.

"Yo, what do I have to say? Maybe
I should do what I have to do to break free, and
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
But its not gonna happen with me"

He's made up his mind and he's not going down like she is. he's moving on.

    I love the chorus.

"I guess that this is where we've come to."
The end of their relationship, the breakup.

"If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me." she's in denial and probubly thinks he's gunna come back to her or take her back. But he's telling her it's not gunna happen.

"But I, wont be there when you go down."
He's not gunna be there when she realizes she's nothign without him, cuz he was the best thing that happend to her. What they had was really good but she through it away.

    "Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me"
He's telling her she better wake up cuz he's not gunna hold her up, or let her use him anymore.

"Now i'm thinkin' like the mistake that I made doesn't hurt
But it's not gonna work cause its
Really much worse than I thought
I wished you were something you were not
And now this guilt is really all that I've got"

I love this line. The mistake he made was taking her back and he has guilt over it because he knew it was a bad decision when he did it and it only made things worse. He's pretending it didn't do anythign to him but it did, cuz the problem is still there

    General CommentA correction:

The rain every damn day is the same shade of grey.

I'm pretty sure that's what the song meant.

Anyhoo, I pretty much agree. Having gone through a pretty tough breakup recently, this song empowered me.

General CommentI love the line "on the right track, but I was on the wrong train". Kinda the "so close, yet so far" feeling.
