Is it still me that makes you sweat?
Am I who you think about in bed?
When the lights are dim and your hands are shaking
As you're sliding off your dress?
Then think of what you did
And how I hope to God he was worth it
When the lights are dim
And your heart is racing as your fingers touch his skin

I've got more wit, a better kiss
A hotter touch, a better fuck
Than any boy you'll ever meet
Sweetie, you had me
Girl, I was it, look past the sweat
A better love deserving of
Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat
No, no, no, you know it will always just be me

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
And hold a lover close?
So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
And hold a lover close?

So I guess we're back to us
Oh, cameraman, swing the focus
In case I lost my train of thought
Where was it that we last left off? (let's pick up, pick up)

Oh, now I do recall
We just were getting to the part
Where the shock sets in
And the stomach acid finds a new way to make you get sick
I hope you didn't expect to get all of the attention
Let's not get selfish
Did you really think I'd let you kill this chorus?

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
And hold a lover close?
So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
And hold a lover close?

Dance to this beat
Dance to this beat
Dance to this beat

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster
Let's get these teen hearts beating faster

I've got more wit, a better kiss
A hotter touch, a better fuck
Than any boy you'll ever meet
Sweetie, you had me
Girl, I was it, look past the sweat
A better love deserving of
Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat
No, no, no, you know it will always just be me

Let's get those teen hearts beating faster, faster

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
And hold a lover close?

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
And hold a lover close?

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Dance to this beat
So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Dance to this beat

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster
Let's get these teen hearts beating faster

Natalie Portman says the words "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off, but it's better if you do." in the movie "Closer" to Clive Owen's character. The movie deals with Portman, Owen, Julia Roberts, and Jude Laws characters all sleeping around, lying, cheating, and so on to one another. Jude Law publishes a book titled "The Aquarium". Julia Roberts and Clive Owen meet in an aquarium. This song has alot of influence from the movie, based on the music video/fish tank heads. You should check it out if you're a fan of this song.

It's about a guy whose girlfriend cheated on him.

'Then think of what you did And how I hope to God he was worth it. When the lights are dim and your heart is racing as your fingers touch his skin.'

He's asking if it was worth it to cheat on him. He thinks she'll never have someone better than him, and she had him, until she cheated on him.

'I've got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better fuck Than any boy you'll ever meet, sweetie you had me Girl I was it, look past the sweat, a better love deserving of Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat? No, no, no, you know it will always just be me'

He's asking her to look past the testoserone. Past the moment, at the long-run. Was this boy she cheated on him with really more worthy of having sex with her than the narrator? No. She'll always love the narrator, and she's blown it.

'Let's get these teen hearts beating. Faster, faster'- talking about the thrills of sex.. and the fear of getting caught making their hearts beat faster.

'Testosterone boys and harlequin girls'- boys controlled by their lust, and girls who are fools. He's making a general statement about boys who are only after sex, and the girls who are made to look like idiots, because they have sex with the boys. (Eg the girl the narrator was with is made to look stupid, beause she sacrificed her perfect relationship for sex with this boy who only wanted to use her for the thrill of it).

'Will you dance to this beat, and hold a lover close?'- Will you go the same root as i'm describing?

Then he talks about the guilt that comes after the cheating...

'Oh now I do recall, we were just getting to the part Where the shock sets in, and the stomach acid finds a new way to make you get sick.'

'Now let's not get selfish' is ironic, since the girl has been selfish by having another lover.

Oh now I do recall, we were just getting to the part Where the shock sets in, and the stomach acid finds a new way to make you get sick I hope you didn't expect that you'd get all of the attention Now let's not get selfish Did you really think I’d let you kill this chorus?"

This part is like him telling her no when she tries to come back or feels bad about what's going on. I think the song in general is like "Hey, you messed up and you're not getting me back."

"So testosterone boys and harlequin girls Will you dance to this beat, and hold a lover close? So testosterone boys and harlequin girls Will you dance to this beat, and hold a lover close?"

I think this is like advice.. saying to stick by who you're with. A lot of people make the mistake of doing something dumb and then later realizing what they had before was a lot better, so maybe he's saying not to do what his girl did and take the relationship for granted.

In general the song is him shutting her down, and then telling everyone else not to mess it up either.

from what I can gather its a guy whispering something into this girl's ear, saying how he was so good for her, but its over (is it still that makes you sweat) its probably refering to sex, with the shaking, and the body heat reference.

in the second verse they have reached the pregnancy stage (and the stomach acid finds a new way of making you sick I hope you didn't expect to get all of the attention)

though I'll agree that testosterone refers to the raging sex drive the guy has and harlequin probably to the cliche romances.

Actually I think it all falls back to the movie Closer. You will have to have seen the movie to understand what I saying. But if you watch you will see that Anna and Larry get married even though she is having an affair with Dan which leads us back to "I write sins not tragedies" where there is a wedding but the bride is a whore. Then after one year of marriage Anna leaves Larry for Dan, and Larry is devastated and says that he is better than Dan (lying is the most...). And after that, Larry hits a strip club and is practilly begging Alice(stripper) for her to love him, and says he loves her, but actually he is FAKING it, he loves Anna. And also the obvious song titles which are quotes from the moive except for I write sins.... (:

She cheated on him. He's just telling her all that she is missing out on by treating him like crap.

Her hormones and need for romance, the kind of romance that doesn't last, but feels good, caused her to cheat. And it's her fault that she lost him because of it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
