"1000 Pound Eyelids" as written by and Chad Vangaalen....
What just happened to us
I think I fell asleep at the wheel
We must have crashed up the car real good
Because I can't feel anything at all
I'm super sorry but my eyes got really heavy
The last thing I remember is your smile

Tidal wave, you wash me ashore
One more time on the beach for me
Tidal wave, you wash me ashore
One more time on the beach for me

What just happened to us
I think I fell asleep at the wheel
We must have fucked up the car real good
Because I can't feel anything at all
I'm super sorry but my eyes got really heavy
And the last thing I remember is your smile

General Commentyeah, on the one hand you could take this literally to be about a car crash and the final thoughts running through someone's mind, because vangaalen has the tendency to write about theoretical situations like this.

on the other hand, you could take it to be about a breakup - one that is either so bad that it makes him feel totally numb ("I can't feel anything at all") or it was a perfectly clean getaway - no bitter taste in the mouth, "the last thing I remember is your smile".

either way, this song is beautiful.

    General CommentA breakup, probably.
I love the forlorn horn in the background.
