Your warm embrace has been replaced by cold.
And those defiant have fallen.
Broken by the floor another rain-streaked face.
Left alone to drown in malice.
And your bleeding heart can only heal so much.
We can't weather this storm for longing.
And water cannot cleanse the blood from our past.
Can you hear your crying wish?
Because your prayers remain.
Answerless.
Your prayers remain.
In sweet decay.
Your prayers remain.
In this sweet decay.
Your love failed me.
Broken hearts and shattered dreams could never carry your fractured world.
So just throw it all away.
Your love is lost on us.
Just throw it all away.
Your love is lost on us.

If you really feel the tone of these lyrics, it's quite easy to understand the meaning.

The base of the meaning is simply that someone has went through a drastic change in their life, and discovered the truth, but the truth truly does hurt.

To go into further detail, this is indeed as TEAMHATE said, about a friend of Winston's.

There are many churches and Christian denominations that truly, and with all due respect, act in absolutely ridiculous manners. They tell you so many things and so many children grow up hearing these things from their church and family, and they simply become brainwashed, leaving room only to think of these ideas. The main idea that a Christian church gives out is that Christ will someday return to Earth and "save" all whom truly do love him. These people then devote their entire lives to this religion, expecting that one day, they will see a true compensation for their dedication. Some eventually grow to discover that everything was simply a lie. There is no God, and Christ will never return, as he was merely human. He has given everything, and it was all for nothing. It simply tears one apart.

Now, to fully interpret the lyrics:   "Your warm embrace has been replaced by cold." What once was so important has turned out to be worthless.

"And those defiant eyes have fallen, broken by the floor." He simply feels like giving up. He's broken. His entire past has been a lie, constructed with hopes bearing anticipation.

"Another rain-streaked face left alone to drown in malice." "Another" obviously meaning this has happened in the past. A "rain-streaked" face, implying that he's wept excessively over this issue. He's now on his own, left to weep over his own regret and the "malice" of those whom lied to him, "malice" being the intent to harm another.

"And your bleeding heart can only heal so much." This pain will be with him forever. A scar, if you will, within his past, and no matter how much he tries, he'll never fully get over this.

"We can't weather this storm of longing." Much a similarity to the previous line. This pain will be with him forever, and nothing can break that.

"And water cannot cleanse the blood from our past." I think this is referring to Baptism. If so, then this is simply stating that his past cannot be "fixed" by anything, in this case, Baptism. Though I must admit, that's a strange lyrical transition, so I'm probably wrong.

"Can you hear your crying wish? Because your prayers remain answerless." This is simply saying that all of the times he has prayed, everytime he's went to God for help, no one heard him, because there is no God to hear him.

"Your prayers remain. In sweet decay. Your prayers remain. In this sweet decay." Basically, the same meaning as the previous line.

"Your love failed me." Christians say that God's love is unfailing. Now that he has seen the truth, he's mocking God, despite the fact that he has realized there is no God. I guess a simpler description would be that he's upset because God did not come to his rescue.

"Broken hearts and shattered dreams could never carry your fractured world." What is being said isn't hard to determine, but who's saying it, and who the line is directed to has confused me. I'll just make the assumption that it's simply stating that he can't continue living with his own regret like this.

"So just throw it all away." If I'm correct on the previous line, then this is simply stating that he needs to forget about his past and move on with his new life.

"Your love is lost on us." Once again I think this is just a mockery of God, stating that he no longer loves him.

"Just throw it all away." Previously stated.

"Your love is lost on us." Previously stated.

Remember, I'm not 100% sure of my accuracy with this interpretation, but I've done my best to this point. If your opinion differs, I'd be happy to hear it.

I too was once strong in my beliefs with Christianity, though in recent times, I just seem to have lost my faith, and I'm not ashamed of that.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
