You aren't allowed to say that you're
better
You aren't allowed to say that cos
you're the hipster type
You've got a lot to say, but don't
mention
The mirror kissing ways of the hipster
type

You aren't allowed to say anything
We kicked around down water lane
But you're not all there
You aren't allowed to say anything
You left me on the street, talking to
drains
Cos you're not all there

You aren't allowed to say that you're
better
You aren't allowed to say that cos
you're the hipster type
You've got a lot to say, but don't
mention
The mirror kissing ways of the hipster
type

You like to tell yourself that I'm nobody
I think you must have known i'd make
you sorry

General CommentI think this links in with 'Hey Scenesters',and shows the cribs dislike for the sterotypical 'Hipster'. I disagree with the person who said The cribs are hipsters,as i beleive they are one of the most genuine and original indie acts out there.

Also i love this song ^o^

Song MeaningI believe that the term "mirror kisser" is refering to all those people that can't get enough of their own face. As somebody else mentioned they take pictures of themselves almost as some kind of hobby. This song states that they aren't allowed an opinion because all they do is follow trends in an attempt to stay "hip".

"We kicked around down water lane
    But you're not all there
You aren't allowed to say anything
You left me on the street, talking to
    drains"

The following lines indicate that perhaps he went out with this person on a date or something along those lines and several times he claims she is "not all there" basically like most "hipsters" too thick to think for herself. There is a posibility that it may not be a woman however i'm just guessing it is the most likely. "You aren't allowed to say anything" basically means her opinion's must be shared with others; in order for her to keep her "hip" status. He tried speaking to her and getting some decent conversation out of her but "You left me on the street, talking to drains"

That is my interpretation of the song anyway.

    General CommentSlight discrepancy:
it's really "The mirror kisser ways of the hipster
    type", not "kissing".

Ahh, The Cribs are amazing live, and so they do this (and their other songs) AMAZINGLY.

    Anyway!
This song reminds me of the trend whores on myspace taking pics of themselves kissing mirrors. It could be describing vain people, too, since it's kissing your own reflection--loving yourself.

General Commentthey are good live.. i saw them open for death cab/franz ferdinand. i didn't know who they were, but i recognized martell from that commercial... they are awesome.

i think this song is about those greesy girls that go to my school.. the ones that make love to the mirror, take pictures, and put them on their myspace..

they also tend to pose in their underwear.

General Commentthe song is about hipsters. and he is talking to a hipster and telling them that they cant act like they are better than him. because stereotypically hipsters are like that, they act like they are better than "normal" people and are savvy in the arts and fashion.

and in the end he isnt as weak or insignificant as the hipster thought,

ironically enough the cribs are hipsters :T

but denying their hipsterness makes them more hipster lol.

lovely song tho. one of my favs from the cribs.
