"The Last American Cowboy" as written by and James Isaiah Munoz Darren Tang Simoes....
Brace yourself
For the plight of the born.
As the spotlight strips you bare.
Just a useless act in the play of life.
Cast as the role of the lover
And I feel slightly misplaced
In a world that's fuck or be fucked

Kill the lights.
Letch.
One more time and say it like you mean it.
Lush.
One more time and tell it like you feel it.
Lover.
You've got talent but I just dont see it.

Wrap your hook around my neck and
Get me off get me off get me off your stage.

In every coma-lover's kiss collides with truth.
And every tongue that slips will drip onto your bruise and I know
Disguise the lies that you fed me last night
These plots are breeding grounds
For nothing but the worst and nothing could be worse
And I know why.

And what do I have left?
The composer just went deaf.
The singer lost his breath
In the glow of the crowd.
The dancer's on a crutch.
The writer drank too much.
The director lost his touch.
In the glow of the crowd.

Can you resist the urge
To burn the script we wrote?
Bring on the flood before we choke.
Applause engulfs the room.
We bow into our tombs.
Sing me one more line so I can sleep.
Sing me one more line so I can sleep
Sing me one more line so I can sleep
This is all you need.
My love, it follows you
To your grave, to your grave
And I know
My love, it follows you
To your grave, to your grave

In every coma-lover's kiss collides with truth.
And every tongue that slips will drip onto your bruise and I know
Disguise the lies that you fed me last night
These plots are breeding grounds
For nothing but the worst and nothing could be worse
And I know

In every coma-lover's kiss collides with truth.
And every tongue that slips will drip onto your bruise and I know
Disguise the lies that you fed me last night
These plots are breeding grounds
For nothing but the worst and nothing could be worse
And I know why.

Song Meaningthe song is definitely about how he feels out of place in the modern world that is ideologically collapsing around him.

"brace yourself for the plight of the born" :when you're born, you don't realize the plight in front of you, because life is so harsh

'in a world thats fucked or be fucked' - he is a 'lover' but the world is so harsh, he has no place in it

"And what do I have left?
    The composer just went deaf.
The singer lost his breath "
and this part is like, all great ideas are slowly becoming more generic

it's not about a play tardos

General CommentDon't know why my version of these lyrics aren't posted which I posted over a week ago. But the actual lyric at the end of the first verse is "in a world or "Fuck or be Fucked."

Also helps the meaning of the "play" or theatrical sense of the song if you capitalized Act, Play, "the Lover," etc.

General CommentAll I can really think about is that it's a play about a cowboy and he wants to be the star or something

General Commenti havent really got to look at the whole song long enough yet but from what i got from the very first paragraph its about life and how it starts out strong and bright but you realize as the days go by that it can be a really horrible place. other parts remind me a bit of this theme such as "Wrap your hook around my neck and get me off get me off get me off your stage." seems like it could be him saying end my life. thats all i got right now. not sure if im right, probably not, but ill keep trying to get more anymore.

    General CommentNo....
    What I think:

Yeah, it is about a play, but not like a play in a theatre.. It's how someone played him. It'll be very long to type and explain each line but basically it's how this whole love affair was just a play.. and when he found out about this it seemd to him like everything went worng.. "The composer just went deaf.
The singer lost his breath".. part.
She played him so much that it seems like the world's over, for both of them.. "sing me one more line so I can sleep...". and she feels guilty for thier lives ending like this,- "It follows you to your grave..". That's it in short. Not saying Im right, but that's what i think.

General Commentjesus christ, people are dumb. it is *definitely* coma. forever haunted had said pretty much what i was thinking.
his life had gone to shit because his disastrous lie of a love affair but he didn't want to believe it. the chorus explains it all that part well. when one is in a COMA, they are unconscious and unable to sense anything that's going on around them... like this guy in the song who was numb during and after this relationship/love affair. he knew it was all fake but he went along with it, cause he had to hold onto something. eventually he lost her and his life went down to shit. the whole "play" was fucked. all the necessary players in the play lost hope.. or something like that. i don't know. james munoz lyrics are so cryptic, one could say a lot of things about their lyrics.
