"Sympathetic Noose" as written by Peter Hayes and Robert Turner....
I gotta feeling I can't lose,
I gotta sympathetic noose,
But I don't know how to be grateful,
Yeah I don't know how you're thankful,
I gotta feeling I can't lose,
I gotta sympathetic noose,
'cause you don't know how to lean on,
Yeah I don't know how to be freed from,
You gotta keep your head up,
You gotta let yourself get through,
All you ever dream,
Makes you want to hide,
Least all your expectations,
Feel the hole inside,
All you ever dream,
It makes you want to hide,
Least all your expectations,
Feel the hole inside.

I gotta feeling in my boots,
I gotta make some sense of you,
'cause I don't know how to be careful,
Yeah I don't know how to be there for,
I gotta feeling I can't prove,
I gotta sympathetic noose,
'cause I don't know how you're grateful,
Yeah I don't know how to be thankful,
You gotta keep your head up,
You gotta let yourself get through,
All you ever dream,
Makes you want to hide,
Least all your expectations,
Feel the hole inside,
All you ever dream,
It makes you want to hide,
Least all your expectations,
Feel the hole inside.

General Commentfor me, it talks about the toll expectations can have on a person. that a feeling leads to this expectation which can be false and leaves this whole wanting and feeling for that thing to happen become just something not real. yet, you cant let this get to you. its a sad part of life, but you gotta get through it to continue on, even with the emptiness it gives you.

General CommentI think it's actually "All you've ever dreamed / makes you want to hide / as all your expectations / leave a hole inside."

    Such a great song.

General CommentWhen I first heard abouth "Howl" being an accoustic album, I became very disapointed. Then I heard this song and I realized how wrong I was about judging these guys.

Lyric CorrectionI think there are a few things off here, so here's what I've got...

    I got a feeling I can't lose
    I got a sympathetic noose
But I don't know how to be grateful
    Yeah, I don't know how you're thankful

    I got a feeling I can't lose
    I got a sympathetic noose
'cause I don't know how to lean on
Yeah, I don't know how to be freed from

You gotta keep your head up
You gotta let yourself get through

    And all you'll ever dream
    Lifts you up too high
    As all your expectations
    Leave a hole inside
    When all you'll ever dream
    Lifts you up too high
    As all your expectations
    Leave a hole inside

I got a feeling in my boots
I gotta make some sense to you
'cause I don't know how to be careful
Yeah, I don't know how to be there for

    I got a feeling I can't prove
    I got a sympathetic noose
    'cause I don't know how you're grateful
Yeah, I don't know how to be thankful

You gotta keep your head up
You gotta let yourself get through

    As all you'll ever dream
    Lifts you up too high
    As all your expectations
    Leave a hole inside
    When all you'll ever dream
    Lifts you up too high
    As all your expectations
    Leave a hole inside
