You won't let me change
You don't let me change
Tell me I can grow up
And age will forget that I'm old
You won't let me change
You don't let me change
The story is already told

As tears get mixed up with rain
Every time I mention I mention in vain
How do you expect to be free
When all your politics were written in
The lipstick that kissed me

You won't let me change
You don't let me change
Tell me I can grow up
And age will forget that I'm old
You won't let me change
You don't let me change
The story is already told

If the world keeps blowing
In storm around us all
All the words are frozen
As the rain turns into snow fall
So happy I was
To serve blindly on the tray
And honesty isn't poetry
Just a truthful way to complain

Definitely one of the best Idlewild b-sides released in the last few years. You can find it on the single for Love Steals Us From Loneliness (CD 1), with "Gone Too Long" (another great track).

I know other lyric sites say the line is "To serve blindly on the tray," but if you really listen to that part, it sure sounds like Roddy is singing "brandy" - which would make more sense to be served on a tray, anyway.
