I got a sweet tooth
Sunk in a soft spot
That busts my jaw loose
And makes my mouth rot
And I caught a bad break
The same one you caught
That turned your hair white
And choked your breath off

So I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb
I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb
I found gossip in the ivy and it's been swallowing my house
And I found bones in the foundation that I'm just picking out now
So I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb

I've got a fistful of shattered seashells
That scream like soldiers stuck down an oil well
I saw a bad sign lit up like Broadway
And I watched my head spin
And I heard my voice shake

I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb
I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb
I found trouble in the ghost town
That I've been building with my hands
But I found comfort in the snowstorm
That I've been piling on my past
So I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb

So I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb
I'm buried by the buzz of a year gone numb
I see symptoms of a sickness
In every stranger on the street
And I see danger in the distance
Speeding straight for you and me
So I'm buried by the buzz
I'm buried by the buzz
I'm buried by the buzz

HE sings this song so well, its amazing. I think this song is about putting your past away and i think he is finally coming to terms with it and its overwhelming.

okay well heres my interrupation of this AMMMMMAZINGGGGGGGGG song

he has been broken up with his girlfriend for a year. but he had no idea why she broke up with him in the first place. hes just now finding out why after one year being emotionally numb by the breakup.

'And I caught a bad break The same one you caught That turned your hair white And choked your breath off' i think this is saying i found the flaw that made you go away

'And I found bones in the foundation that I'm just picking out now' hes just now seeing all the clues

'But I found comfort in the snowstorm That I've been piling on my past' hes been relying on the relationship to comfort him

'And I see danger in the distance Speeding straight for you and me' this part confuses me tho. is he talking about the ex-girlfreind? or a new girlfriend who he is probably going to breakup with due to the finding of all his flaws

How does this relate to drugs?

To me, this song is about him starting to regret the life he's living even though he's done it to himself (I found trouble in the ghost town that I've been building with my hands) and so he's doing cocaine to sort of forget about his problems (But I found comfort in the snowstorm that I've been piling on my past), and therefore he's buried by the buzz of a year gone numb, once again, due to cocaine.

Maybe it's about a relationship though, I could be wrong, though a lot of his songs are metaphors for using drugs, specifically coke.

    definatley about coke.

    there's such obvious references:

    "fist full of shattered seashells"

    "bones in the foundation"

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
