"Matter Of Time" as written by and Kim L. Owens....
Here it goes again,
Put on that deserving tone
And don't forget that this was all your fault.
It's breathing down your neck,
You know you've got to let this go.
You're such a wreck and now it starts to show.

Cause all you can't deny
Is all held inside
And when we go, we say goodbye,
And then we run,
We run away.

Cause all we can't deny is just a lie.
And when we try to just get by
We just can't get past ourselves.

Cause where you are is where you'll be:
Always wanting everything.
It's all the same that you can't ignore
Cause all you want is just "to be more".

It's creeping up again.
(It's all to be considered.)
(It's a game and you're not the winner)
It's a haunting memory.

Cause all you can't deny
Is all held inside
And when we go, We say goodbye
And then we run,
We run away.

Cause all we can't deny is just a lie.
And when we try to just get by
We just can't get past ourselves.

Cause where you are is where you'll be:
Always wanting everything.
It's all the same- that you can't ignore
Cause all you want is just "to be more".

Cause who you are is who you'll be,
And that is really everything.
It's all the same that you can relate.
Cause what you want's not what you're getting.
It's just a matter of time, It's just a matter of time.
It's just a matter of time, It's just a matter of time-
'Til you know you'll be somebody tonight.

General CommentThe drums and guitar in the beginning lay out a serious element and it changes directions entirely toward the end and contributes to the songs meaning.

This song is all about denial. For example when mediating in two sided arguments, the side state first is always more influential than the second because the first lays out the base coat and is hard to overrule

    "Put on that deserving tone
and don't forget that this was all your fault."
The writer is explaining that the complainer is unjustified in the statement and undeserving of sympathy. This is about how the person that is bening sung about is in a state of denial and lives in that state.

"Cause all we can't deny is just a lie.
And when we try to just get by
We just can't get past ourselves."

In short, this girl (presumably) is placing the blame in the wrong place because of her mentality of denial, and in a matter of time (where the song changes directions for a more positive sound, like an epiphany) she will learn her problem and change it.

I should turn this thing in for a term paper, I looked way too deep, hah!

General Commenti think this song is about a person who knows that they are wrong, or something.. that they know how they act or what they have done is wrong,... and they just want to be more... and waiting on time to see if they will be someone they want to be , rather than the person they are now

    Great song in any case.

General CommentPersonally, I think that this song is about two different people who've had a fight and one of them (or both of them, really) is thinking about how it's all their fault, but they don't have the guts to appologize.

"And don't forget that this was all your fault."

And inside they know that they were wrong.

    "Cause all you can't deny
    is all held inside."

Everything they know they've done wrong is what they deny and neither of them wants to be the one to back down because they "just can't get past themselves."

Both people want to be the winner, and that's where the 'wanting to be more...' comes in.
The rest with the 'game' and 'not being the winner' and the 'haunting memory' is self explainatory.

At the end we know that if they stay that way that it's 'really everything' (meaning that's pretty much they end of them) and that they both feel the same but 'can't relate.'

Still, deep down they know that they have to come clean some day and be the bigger person... or people.

"It's just a matter of time-
'Til you know you'll be somebody tonight."

But anyway, that's my take on the song :D
