Survival
Survival

One more goddamn day when I know what I want
And my want will be considered tonight, considered tonight
Just another day when all that I want
Will mark me as a sinner tonight, I'm a sinner tonight, yeah

People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you, then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of
Ten thousand fists in the air

Power unrestrained and dead on the mark
Is what we will deliver tonight, deliver tonight
Pleasure fused with pain is triumph of the soul
Will make you shiver tonight, will make you shiver tonight, yeah

People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you, then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of
Ten thousand fists in the air

We are the ones that will open your mind
Leave the weak and the haunted behind
(We are the ones that will open your mind)
Leave the weak and the haunted behind
(We are the ones that will open your mind)
Leave the weak and the haunted behind
(We are the ones that will open your mind)
Leave the weak and the haunted behind

People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you, then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of
Ten thousand fists in the air

Ten thousand fists in the air
Ten thousand fists in the air

This song is excellent, their best since the The Sickness CD. I think its about being at a concert and feeling the energy. All the lyrics just seem to steer it that way. And not to be picky but its Survival, not Survial.

    Song Meaning

I think this song is an allegory for the general public to stand up, protest, and/or actively show that they will not put up with the corruption of those in power.

The first stanza with the lyrics: "I know what I want, And my want will be considered tonight" and "all that I want, Will mark me as a sinner tonight"

Mean that the people in power or hold influence decide whether or not we deserve what we want or if our desires are right or immoral.

The chorus is meant to be a warning to the corrupted who hold power. Like the criminals of corporations, like Enron, or an evil Dictator of a country.

The Lyrics: "People can no longer cover their eyes If this disturbs you then walk away"

First it asserts to the evil that the people, the general public, have stopped ignoring the actions of of the corrupt. The evil and corrupt rely on people's indifference in order to get away with their abusive acts that. So with people refusing to ignore their deplorable actions the evil must stop or "walk away" from their evil acts.

And of course the lyrics: "You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of Ten Thousand fists in the air"

This means that the people in control will take notice of the population actively trying to end the corruption.

And finally the lyrics: "We are the ones that will open your mind Leave the weak and the haunted behind"

Refuse to how the people who are rebelling will help "open your mind" or help you understand what's wrong with the world we live in. And to not be stopped by the people, you know, who are either unable to understand the world's problems or are too defeated to even try to fix the problem.

    My Interpretation

I think it´s a political song. The Chorus "People can no longer cover their eyes If this disturbs you then walk away You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of Ten Thousand fists in the air" speaks for itself. It means to me that the people can not say anymore that everythings okay and if they think like this they should walk away. And I think the last part means that he wants the people to unite and fight against injustice.

It is about potntially a few things. A toll to remind us to face reality head on. Signifying unity in triumph. People standing up for their rights and aposing what is wrong. To be themselves and not give a shit about the aspersions people throw on them. This could also be about unity in team effort or war, groups or individuals putting fourth their best effort in a time of sink or swim.

    My Interpretation

I love this song but geez it makes me feel creepy. I am not sure, but I think this song is his description of making a pact with the devil.

    Reason One:

"One more goddamn day when I know what I want And my want will be considered tonight, considered tonight Just another day when all that I want Will mark me as a sinner tonight, I'm a sinner tonight, yeah."

If anybody can give me a different explanation of these lyrics I would be happy to hear it

    Reason Two:

"Power unrestrained and dead on the mark Is what we will deliver tonight, deliver tonight"

Everybody knows that the devil has a lot of power, "dead on the mark" could mean that he got what he wanted

    Reason Three:

"We are the ones that will open your mind Leave the weak and the haunted behind"

From what I have heard, this is directly from the religion of satanism.

    Reason four:

All of the other parts to this song can be explained using this reasoning. They do not infer, but they can be explained.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
