"Hello Shitty" as written by Anthony S Raneri, Jack A O'shea, John Holohan and Nick Ghanbarian....
It seems like you're holding me down and it just seems pointless to work this thing out
So what's holding me back?
A lifelong friendship's not worth this
I'll hide this one deep underground

Convenience can comfort you now but the words that you said you can never have back
I'm warning you now, when you realize you made a mistake
I'll be sure to kick while you're down

I gave you this gift,
Now I'm here alone and I'm paying for it
Our light's almost out but I'll smile again the day that you figure out
I was all that you had

General CommentHis girlfriend cheated on him with a life long friend? I think "I gave you this gift" means he introduced them in the first place or w/e. It fits for my anyway.

General CommentI'm thinking the gift he gave her was happiness, and now she's got bored of him, and he knows it's time to end it.

In the end he's just hoping that she'll look back and realise what they had was good, he's obviously still mad at her so he just smiles, content that she is not content.

General CommentAnthony said in an interview that this was about a friend of his who wasn't all that great a friend, and who was also obsessed with Hello Kitty. The short running time for the song represents how that's just a point in his life that he wants to be done with.

General CommentTo me, the gift seems almost like it would be more and more chances.

He continuously gives her chance after chance to prove herself, and she blows them.

I don't take that from the lyrics, per se, but it fits my situation. I figured I'd share.

General CommentTo me this song is about the bitterness you feel when someone, whether it be a friend or a boyfriend/girlfriend drops your friendship.

After he realizes that the petty bullshit they add to his life is just holding him down, he ends the relationship, no longer caring about salvaging the friendship. Even though the person will try and back themselves up, they can never take back the words they said. I think the gift was the fact that he cared about the relationship he had with that person. He lets them know that even though they think they're better off now, he'll be there saying "told you so", when they realize how good of a friend he was to them.
