My love's like an arm chair
It's inclined to recline and sweep you off of your feet
My structure is perfect
There's no flaw in design
A decent buy for you

There's no rest for a luxury
There's no rest for me

Her eyes are watering
I said we're better off this way
Things change
It's happening everyday
He'll come and take my place and show you things that I just couldn't face
We'll sit and sing a song of what we did wrong.

Now that I'm used up and my arms start to fade
You can pay to upgrade or you can replace me
Finalize my demise
A new surprise for you

There's no rest for a luxury
There's no rest for me

Her eyes are watering
I said we're better off this way
Things change
It's happening everyday
He'll come and take my place and show you things that I just couldn't face
We'll sit and sing a song of what we did wrong.

Don't tell me that the worst is over now
Don't tell me what I can see with my eyes
Don't tell me the worst is over now
Bend my will again then mend it straight

Her eyes are watering
I said we're better off this way
Things change
It's happening everyday
He'll come and take my place and show you things that I just couldn't face
We'll sit and sing a song of what we did wrong.

And maybe I'll regret you
And maybe I'll regret you
And maybe I'll regret you
It's all in my mind
All in my mind

Hmm.. yeah. In order to stay true to what the purpose of this whole site is about.

I do say it's like the guy is afraid of commitment. [Just like hopeless said] though I'm guessing that he's not expecting too much from the girl.

Wait, now that I've looked at the past few lines, "it's all in my mind, all in my mind"

It gave me an idea that maybe the guy is somewhat longing for one girl taht he's just admiring from a far, then he somehow gets lost into this fantasy that what if they were together. Then, by that time he would've realized that he may not be enough for the girl that the girl would eventually replace her--or, even that he's a little hesitant by the fact--would want him back/more again.

So I conjured, by the line "There's no rest for a luxury, there's no rest for me" The guy {singer} was telling the girl taht he's all for her.

Well, that's my take on the song. BTW, utterly awesome song! ^_^

this song is sooo good. I think its about a break up.

"Her eyes are watering I said we're better off this way things change, its happening everyday He'll come and take my place and show you things that I just couldn't face"

He probably wasnt ready for commitment, and the girl was, so he had to let her go, so she could find someone that would be able to make a commitment to her.

I think you guys have it wrong.

If you read the lyrics, it would seem that it is about breaking up with a girl who either cheated or did something really wrong with another boy. The only line i dont really understand is when he says "theres no rest for a luxury" .. ??? other than that, the lines are pretty straight forward to support my idea.

I believe that the first few comments were correct. I don't think that she cheated on him. I think that they broke up and now she has found somebody else. But the "there is no rest for me" definitely means that he could not commit.

i think this song is about the dude doing a lot for her and her still not being satisfied.

like when he says "there's no rest for luxury" means that she's too high maintenace and no matter what he does, it'll never be enough for her.

so he breaks up with her so she can find someone that can give her what she wants.

    that's what i think.

io believe he's talking about all this stuff going on in his life when he says "there's no rest for luxury" and he has so many things happening, he doesn't really have time for her, thus "his arms start to fade"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
