"Dial Away" as written by and Sondre Lerche Vaular....
I try to make sense of your words
I try to read between the lines
but I conclude another day's search without you
an endless dial away

if it's my presence you desire
and it's not these dots that you require
if it's the pain of living alone
"I love you"'s a meaningless dial away

can I tell you how it's hanging?
talk and get back understanding?
it seems like that, but tell me, baby
yeah...

you're just too perfect to be true
and i can't stand talking to you
if it's too late, well
maybe I'll call if you're there
an empty dial away

can I tell you how it's hanging?
talk and get back understanding?
it seems like that, but tell me, baby
yeah...

I wish that we could all know
better than now so we wouldn't feel so dumb
and I wish something would happen soon
so we'd avoid such embarrassing calls

how about if I told you, hmm, frankly
how about if you said: "this calls for some action!
come, let's go,"

I understand that I'm the one
who should call you up and sound like fun
maybe I'll get you, maybe I won't
but just know
I'm no more than a dial away

tell me how it's hanging
get back understanding
tell me, baby
yeah...

General CommentI think this song means both people after a break-up want to talk to each other because they still care about each other, but can't because it's too difficult. They don't know who should call first, and if they're ready to talk without it being painful.

"You're too perfect to be true
and I can't stand talking to you"

After my first break-up with my boyfriend and best friend, I just wanted everything to be better between us. I didn't want us to hurt anymore. I wanted to talk, I wanted to hear about his day, but there was too much emotion attached to even a phone conversation. So all there is to do is to give it time.. I'm waiting until talking on the phone is a pleasant thing again.
