"Devil" as written by and Aaron/mushok Lewis....
She sits alone again and tries her best not to pretend that all she used to live
For was the love that wasn't there
And every time she needs to do the things that she believes will fill the void
Inside of her cause he was never there

And she says,
"I swear I'm not the devil
Though you think I am.
I swear I'm not the devil."
And she says,
"I swear I'm not the devil
Though you think I am.
I swear I'm not the devil."

He tries to sleep again and wonders when the pain will end
The cuts they made run deeper than his cracking outer shell
He looks with tired eyes at all the people hypnotized
And wonders what can save him from a self-created hell

And he says,
"I swear I'm not the devil
Though you think I am.
I swear I'm not the devil."
And he says,
"I swear I'm not the devil
Though you think I am.
I swear I'm not the devil."

I always fail to see the little things in front of me
The things that mean so much to you,
A way to let you know
That I appreciate the way you always tolerate
But sometimes when I medicate
Frustration in you shows me how you feel

But I swear I'm not the devil
Though you think I am
I swear I'm not the devil
And I scream
I swear I'm not the devil
Though you think I am
I swear I'm not the devil

General CommentThis song is about someone...

Who swears he isn't the devil.

General CommentThis could possibly be about people who make mistakes, and others think they are useless, heartless, or even evil. "i swear i'm not the devil" means that "i'm not as bad/evil as you think i am"
but whether or not they actually are could go either way...

General CommentIt's about people who are misunderstood, who really did things because it seemed to be best at the time, not meaning to be "the devil", but now they realize that it was a mistake.

General CommentI think this is about the christian church how they often ignorantly condemn anything and everything as an "abomination" (single mothers, gays and lesbians etc) just because they disagree with it, and here is aaron trying to explain that there's nothing evil about difference. Great song.

General CommentThis whole album has a feeling of someone being betrayed by their significant other and the dialog between the two. This song makes me think of a woman/man asking for forgiveness after being unfaithful to her/his woman/man who might not always do the right thing when it comes to relationships but still is a good person all around.

General Commenti agree with Delo, perhaps its about someone doing something that hurt their loved ones and they seem them as "evil"

General Commentthis song is about how people make mistakes, or being different, as collegeguy666 said. This song is about being rejected for making thoshe desicisions that might be wrong, or making a descision to be different.

General CommentWell I was dating this guy for 2 years and he was the guy I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. A year into our relationship he cheated on me and we broke up. We both still had so much love for each other and wanted things to work so we got back together. The two of us together created so much love and such a bond that neither one of us knew how powerful it was. We were each others best friend and we wanted to hold on as tight as we could, but I could never get past the cheating so things went downhill and we broke up, this time for good. It was honestly the hardest thing I had to go through in my life, because when you love somebody, really love somebody and it ends, it literally kills you. I went through alot of things, bad things and one day after months of not seeing each other he played this song for me and told me it made him think of our relationship. That although what he did caused so much hurt to us, it never meant that he didnt love me. People mess up and sometimes they mess up so bad that it will never be the same. He destroyed everything we had and ever could have together and both of us will have to remember that for the rest of our lives. We will have to live in thought of "what if..."
