I've been waiting for you
To show you faces of gloom
Living disgrace, my eyes are burned
and my ears are tired of all these

Screams!
Screams!

So I run, the truth is falling
You're the one, sent to kill me

Several days in no mood
Since there's no way to elude
What can I say? my skin's a lie
And my heart is broke from all these

Lies!
Why?!

So I run, the truth is falling
You're the one, sent to kill me
Yet so wrong, the death is haunting
Now I'm gone, self inflicting

- Waaaagh!

So I run, the truth is falling
You're the one, sent to kill me
Yet so wrong, the death is haunting
Now I'm gone, self inflicting

General CommentProbably one of Taproot's best songs ever made. The opening with that mysterious guitar, and then explodes into a powerful guitar riff, just blew me away when I first heard it.

    Great job from Taproot

General CommentTo me it sounds as though one of his inspirations, or someone he really looked up to, some sort of an authority figure was suppose to help him out through a tough time, but then he relizes, that this person is just a liar is doing no good in his life, and only made problems worse.

Or it could be him reacting to a death, of one of his authority figures, and how he feels that the person let him down by dying, as if the authority figure was suppose to fix a problem but died before the person got the guts to help out the person who really looked up to him.

Again it could also be about some inspirational figure that steve(the singer), never actually go to see before but had been told stories about how this person is a great person, but later finds out that those stories are lies and that this person is worthless.

oR it could just be about the grim reaper.

General CommentI'm not really a Taproot fan but I do like this song. As for the meaning, I agree with Abasement on the whole idea about somebody you look up to turning out to be a liar, only making things worse.

My InterpretationThis song scared the crap outta me when I was younger. It was so haunting and I was going through some tough emotional times.

Abasement has the best interpretation with "one of his inspirations, or someone he really looked up to, some sort of an authority figure was suppose to help him out through a tough time, but then he relizes, that this person is just a liar is doing no good in his life, and only made problems worse." Possibly it could be a family member.

General CommentThe meaning is pretty simple. It's about having delusions of someone attempting to kill you, and in the end death is "self-inflicting" (hence the name "Facepeeler" as elaborated by the metaphor "my skin's a lie". He is peeling his own face off.) It's probably just based on the feeling one gets from being alone for a long time (like a "disgrace" and like they're going crazy) with nothing more than a psychological thriller twist-cliche hyperbole added in for kicks.

General CommentTo me the lyrics are completely open to interpretation (it is songmeanings.com.) But I think the true strength of this song is the songwriting. Really, it's hard to beat the explosion of guitar everytime they hit the chorus. And the breakdown at 3:01, it's really just amazing, one of the highlights of Taproots career. This song is also amazing live!!! Really gets you pumped! Taproot is an amazing band and deserves all fans support, hardcore and all else. Rock on Stephen, Mike, Phil, and (Dave?).
