"A Future Uncertain" as written by Steven Joseph Smyth and Warrel George Baker....
To be green in the beautiful hour of envy so divine
To be pure, to let chance form your infinite design
Let the seed awakening begin again
I hate the way you judge me
I hate that you're above me
Can't humanity reach a certain point of understanding?

Why do we live this way?
Why do we have to say the things that subvert the minds of youth?
Why is the world unborn as crashing seas still form?
The vision of the future is of blood

As we face the bleak horizon under crushing skies
The truth belying a future uncertain and dark
We are but one small race, all wear a human face
Yet our image is imperfect and flawed

To set our mind free you must first just listen
Don't waste your life on worthless hate and contradiction, don't you

Solo: Smyth

Reaction in the earth and sky is coming at fast pace
The end to this winding road, extinction of our race
If we all are to survive, there must come great change
I foresee the future, I see the coming plague

Why do we live this way?
Why do we have to say the things that subvert the minds of youth?

To set our mind free you must first just listen
Don't waste your life on worthless hate and contradiction, don't you

General CommentThis song is about the very near future. Nostradamus comes to mind here:

"Mabus will soon die, then will come,
A horrible undoing of people and animals,
At once one will see vengeance,
One hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will pass."

    I believe Mabus is Saddam.

The coming plague? Most likely Avian flu, Pig Fever, etc.

We as humans have fallen into hate. We've ruined our Earth and have become slaves to money and religion. We have been reaching out instead of within.

This is our future, we have done this. Hopefully after this will come a positive change.

General Commentyou know what the freakiest part is? most of this song's lyrics were written in 1992.
this song was based off the song 'the world unborn' from their 1992 demo.

in that song he talks more about color of skin and stuff... so yeah... weird eh

for some reason i don't think that mabus was ever saddam. i think its someone far worse.

General CommentI think Nostradamus was a crackpot, and people only praise all the predictions he predicted correctly, not the ones that never happened. Anyway the line:

To set our mind free you must first just listen
Don’t waste your life on worthless hate and contradiction, don’t you

    Really sticks out to me.

General Comment"The coming plague" is most likely to be a political, or social plague, such as conformity, greed, and malice, not a literal, physical sickness. Hate towards one another will be the ultimate end to us all.

General Comment"to....let chance form your infinate design" to me means your life is based on chance, not "planned" like a religion would tell you. "I hate the way you judge me..." meaning religious people who think he's nuts and won't listen. Can't we just understand we have differences and get along?

"Why do we have to say the things that subvert the minds of youth?" Refering to things kids learn in school that are biased and not true, but we still have to tell kids these things so that we aren't putting them in the middle of a controversy by telling them the truth.

"to set your mind free, you must first just listen" - to truly open your mind, you must listen to others, don't just stand by your narrow view of things.

"Reaction in the earth and sky is coming at fast pace" - the damage to our earth (reaction of it to our abuse) is growing fast.

Not sure about the "plague". I think the change that needs to happen for us to survive needs to be extremely severe for it to make any difference.

And again, "to set your mind free, you must first just listen"....listen to what he is saying, don't assume he's wrong....you have been warned.

Song MeaningJust think it's about humans innately being dicks. I don't think it means to paint religion or anything in a negative light per se, but rather just speak about strictly human flaws. Really, I think this is what a lot of TGE is about, although there are definitely hints of religion bashing. The line about our image being imperfect is a direct shot at the Christian God.
