I've been hiding in this bed for weeks from this
Throats raw from screaming and I haven't said a word
The sky is calling, and the stars they point to this

To a chair we see your breath in the air, but only for a little while
Your cold pale skin and tainted purple lips
Let me embrace you with this kiss
And together we'll float like angels
Together ... together we will float, like angels

Higher than the heavens the clouds part ways
'Promise me to never look down!' and we'll stay like this forever

If your stomach feels weak than my work here is done
To hide from our twisted ways, I've been hiding in this bed
Been hiding in this bed for weeks

General CommentThis is just my interpretation. I just found this site and I had some time so I went through each line (yer… lol). Most people are looking at this song as about his love for a bestfriend, something romantic that cannot be. I agree completely.

Sorry for the typos and bad grammar. It’s kinda late.

“I've been hiding in this bed for weeks from this”

He has been trying to avoid his feelings for her in his “bed”. The bed represents a safe house because a lot of people feel that their bed is a place of rest and peace, it’s a place to hide from the events of the world around you, a place to escape when you dream. So his use of the bed as a symbol of a sanctuary to hide is perfect in portraying just how detrimental the emotions are – he has to try and block them out along with the world.

“Throats raw from screaming and I haven't said a word”

He’s completely frustrated and what ever emotions he was feeling before are being blocked out by a scream from the inside, that is its not so much an actual scream, but more of a psychological plateau that he can’t get past and is “screaming” so hard and trying to force through it that its starting to have a physical effect on his body. This makes sense because when you are mentally under stress, your body deteriorates as well.

”The sky is calling, and the stars they point to this”
“The sky is calling” at him. This could be a reference to death but could also be about searching for an answer to his frustrations. The “sky” is seen as an infinite (I realise the sky isn’t infinite lol) escape – unlike the bed of course – and its calling him to look through its endless distances to search for an answer. If we take this notion of the sky being another “escape” and a “search for an answer”, and think about “sky” as a representation of his mind, he is telling himself to find an answer, because everyone “the stars” around him are pointing and noticing whats happening to him, (not him individually but the events because he says “this”) and its embarrassing.

”To a chair we see your breath in the air, but only for a little while”

This “we” that he keeps referring to may not actually be appointed to a group of people, and not even him and the “friend” that he’s in love with (im taking that assumption). It could just be him and his mind if we look at “this” as his affections for his friend. Its his love and him staring at a “chair” that represents being settled down (when you sit), being settled down with him. She however, isn’t sitting on the chair, but because “we see your breath in the air”, she must have been there at one point in time and spoke something (“breath”) that ended whatever they were talking about. Perhaps he was confronting her about his feelings and it wasn’t received well by her and shes gone now?

”Your cold pale skin and tainted purple lips”

This line, he’s just uglifying her because immediately after she dropped him (in the previous line), he’s now hurt and angry at her. Shes “cold” and “pale”, he feels she is a heartless bitch with these “tainted” lips that made him fall in love with her. “Lips” of course would be a metaphor for her actions, maybe she led him on?

”Let me embrace you with this kiss”

But despite his hate for her at the moment, he still loves her and he wants to “embrace” her.

”And together we'll float like angels”
He’s just dreaming now. “Float”ing like “angels”. “Float” in the “sky”. Looking back at the stanza before, if “sky” represents his mind, he is seriously just day dreaming now because they are “together” floating in the sky, “together” in his mind.

”Together ... together we will float, like angels”

    Ditto

”Higher than the heavens the clouds part ways”

He day dreams so much that in his dreams they eventually reach the heavens. He might be suggesting that he wants to die in his dreams due to the reference to “heaven”, seeking refuge and comfort in the eternal bliss after death.

”'Promise me to never look down!' and we'll stay like this forever”

His mind is telling him to not “look down” because that would wake him and bring him back to “earth” and “reality” – he is not with her. As a result, the day dream continues “forever”.

”If your stomach feels weak than my work here is done”

Possibly something he feels that she would say to him because she is such a “cold” bitch. He’s looking at it like she played him as a fool and the “stomach” being weak is evident of this because our stomachs are central to our body. The weak feeling that is being described could be a mix of a stomach ache, or something like heartburn where the vomit and bile may come back up and burn your throat. “throat raw”????

General CommentI think he is trying to say he has done something wrong to hurt someone and is "hiding in his bed" to get away, but really hasn't done anything.....a marytyr.
    But I'm probobly wrong....

General CommentI am leaning towards kisstokill's definition. Hey everyone: IT'S SCREAMO! Think about it literally for a second. This is a sick depiction of his dead lover, obviously kept there for a bit too long ('your cold pale skin, tainted purple lips') and he STILL doesn't want to let go. Freakin' weird.

General CommentOk so. I do this is about loving your best friend. (the title helps a little) Or they could of had a relationship earlier, and now are "just friends" doesn't really make much of a difference, mainly he loves his best friend.

"I've been hiding in this bed for weeks from this"
    Pure avoidance.

"Throats raw from screaming and I haven't said a word"
He has been screaming inside, but hasn't said a word outloud, or to anyone at all.

"The sky is calling, and the stars they point to this" Not sure if the stars represent people or just his conscious, but it is telling him to do what he is about to do.

"To a chair we see your breath in the air, but only for a little while"
I think it means she comes and goes and doesn't see much of her at all. I think the chair might have something to do with stability and being settled, like someone else mentioned. And seeing her breath in the air, is her talking. And maybe he can see it, has something to do with feeling "cold" or her being "cold" to him.

"Your cold pale skin and tainted purple lips"
Maybe she is pale because she is cold. And the "tainted purple lips". I wasn't too sure what tainted meant, so I looked it up.
    1. To affect with or as if with a disease. 2. To affect with decay or putrefaction; spoil. See Synonyms at contaminate. 3. To corrupt morally. 4. To affect with a tinge of something reprehensible.
    Verb
intr. To become affected with decay or putrefaction; spoil.
This suggest to me that she has been using them a lot, has been kissing a lot of people, or sleeping around or having a lot of other relations with guys in general. The tainted I think means they were decayed or had a diease or corrupted morally, spoiled, a lot of the other definitions of tainted could work too, which means to me more that she was "kissing a lot" and the purple could mean the blood in them from using them. Somewhat of a metaphor.

"Let me embrace you with this kiss"
Comforting her with a kiss. Or doing more with her.

"And together we'll float like angels.
Together... together we will float, like angels"
Not really floating, just that "weak in the knees" feeling that you get when you're in love. Like you're almost floating on air. "float like angels" is a simile.

"Higher than the heavens the clouds part ways
'Promise me to never look down!' and we'll stay like this forever"
He feels like it is "heaven" because he is so happy, to say the least.

'Promise me to never look down!' is kind of like him saying to her not to look down and want to go to back to her other life and leave him forever (when you're afraid of heights, looking down will make you see how far up your are, or in her case how far out she is from her reality, and make you go back down, aka her going back to where she was before) and wake him up from his wonderful "dream". I don't personally think it's a dream though, I just think it is all metaphors for something that actually happened.

"If your stomach feels weak than my work here is done
To hide from our twisted ways, I've been hiding in this bed
Been hiding in this bed for weeks"
Something bad happened to her, or maybe she just feels lonely, so he "embraced her with a kiss" to comfort her and make her feel better.

"If your stomach feels weak than my work here is done" he wanted to give her that "weak in the knees" or the "butterflies in the stomach" feeling of being in love, so hopefully maybe she will feel something for him. This also suggests to me that he just wants to make her feel that way to get back at her for all the times she has done that to him. Or, if they have had a past relationship, give her that feeling from him that she hasn't felt for a while that will bring back feelings for him.

"To hide from our twisted ways, I've been hiding in this bed,
Been hiding in this bed for weeks"
Not so sure here but I think he knows what they're doing is "twisted" and he's been "hiding in this bed" to trying to avoid her, because he knows that if she ever called out for him, or was hurt again, that he would come to her rescue to comfort her, no questions asked. Maybe this has happened several times, and he tries to avoid it each time, but eventually gives in because of his love for her.

My InterpretationRated 0 i think this song is about a girl, something is tying her down (maybe someone, or something someone did to her)and she is dying inside. which is why they see her breath in the air to a chair, her cold pale skin and tainted purple lips.

this guy, has know of it. i think he is a vampire, but doesnt want to take the lifes of humans anymore. so hes been hiding in his bed from this. hes screaming inside his head. (but he hasnt said a word)

he has fallen in love with this girl, and wants to take her away from all her pain. so if he embraces her with his kiss, she can become one of them. (the sky is calling and the stars the point to this) after he gives her "the kiss" they together float like angels. !!!!!!!listen to the change in the music after that line.....i can see them just embracing and swirling up into the air.

they go higher than the heavens, and he tells her to promise to never look down, and we'll stay like this forever. ( in other words, never look back at her life as it was before)

if your stomach feels weak than my work here is done. self explanitory.

i friggen love this song!!!!! some days i wish someone would take me a way from it all......

General Commenti was thinking something along the lines of this (To a chair we see your breath in the air)i think of this as hanging yourself and but (only for a little while) helps me in thnking that when you hang yourself you will stop breathing i think he did someting wrong to cause her to kkill herself and he finds her note ( in this bed for weeks) but there are more lyrics to say im wrong on his sorrow

General Commentit seems to me that this song is about someone
who has fallen in love with their best friend
and is confused about his/her feelings
they are in love but do not know how the other person will act.
they can not bear to live without them
and just the sight of this friend, brings ideas
    of what could be.

General CommentI dont see the whole falling in love with the best friend. But i agree that he has doen something wrong because he says "To hide from our twisted ways, I've been hiding in this bed".
But this song is great, i love the part where it says "If your stomach feels week then my work here is DONE!!"
    Awesome stuff
