"Angel At My Table" as written by and David Odlum Colm Macconiomaire....
There's an angel at my table
And she broke her wings
She's packed her things
She said I'm the only one she'll turn to

But there's a devil on my shoulder
And he's telling me she's so beautiful
That I should go up there and hold up
She's looking on

How can I stay here
It wouldn't be what she wants
And I'm trying to break it easy
But she's pleading with me

Will you be my anchor
When there is no-one around to hold me down
Will you be my anchor
I know you're not the answer

There's an angel at my table
And she's blessed the breeze
That blows in between her and everything
She's left in that (heaven)
And I wish she'd call
'Cause that devil's on my shoulder
And he's pulling me down
And I'm trying to keep a balance
But she's begging me

Will you be my anchor
When there is no-one around to hold me down
Will you be my anchor
I know you're not the answer

There's an angel at my table
She said I'm the only one she'll turn to

General CommentI heard Glen himself say this song was about a girl he was in love with when he was a kid/teen. She was a goth and had black hair and this black eyeliner and she came to him one evening when it was raining and her eyes were all soaked and he said she looked beautiful... That's all I have to say. So romantic... :o)

General Commenti love this song. this and Fitzcarraldo are my favorites on the cd.

i take this song as someone he cares about or loves is sad and broken for whatever reason. he knows he could take advantage of this situation and get something out of it, and is trying to fight of the urge to do that.

though i could be wrong. just a thought

General CommentThis song is about temptation, and an affair with a married or attached woman with whom you're totally infatuated with. But not necessarily in love with.
