She wakes up early every morning
Just to do her hair now
Because she cares you all

Her day wouldn't be right
Without her make up
She's never out of make up

She's just like you and me
But she's homeless, she's homeless
As she stands there singing for money.

La da dee la do dow
La da dee la do dow

In my sleep I see her begging,
Reaching, please
Although the fault is not mine
I ask God why, God why

She's just like you and me
But she's homeless, she's homeless
And she stands there singing for money

La da dee la do dow
La da dee la do dow

La da dee la do dow
La da dee la do dow

She's just like you and me
As she stands there singing for money

La da dee la do dow
La da dee la do dow

La da dee la do dow
La da dee la do dow

Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh

La da dee la do dow
La da dee la do dow

General Comment:This song is about a homeless woman who primps herself in the morning just like any other women would.

My Interpretation:I think the key line in this song is:

She's just like you and me, but she's homeless

We tend to see the homeless, incorrectly, as not "normal" and immediately judge them as either "dirty" or "lazy". In reality, that person could just as easily be us if something drastic was to go wrong in our own lives.
