This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
If all the flowers faded away
And if all the storm clouds decided to stay
Then you would find me each hour the same
She is tomorrow and I am today
And if right is leaving,
I'd rather be wrong
She is the sunlight and the sun is gone
If loving her is heartache for me
And if holding her means that I have to bleed
Then I am the martyr and love is to blame
She is the healing and I am the pain
She lives in a daydream where I don't belong
She is the sunlight and the sun is gone
Cuz if right is leaving,
I'd rather be wrong
She is the sunlight and the sun is gone
She is the sunlight and the sun is gone

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Mountain Song

Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
A song of unrequited love. He knows she doesn't love her, maybe she's in love with someone else, but he can't control all these feelings for her. He will feel the same even if she never loves her back. "Then you would find me Each hour the same"
He believes, that he exists because she exists, she is the air he breathes, "She is tomorrow And I am today"
He knows he won't ever have her, but he will fall for her all over again , everyday, he cant help that. So she is the sunlight of the Sun( love) which isn't even there between them.
This song makes me sad. Unrequited love is painful.
@ShubhamShukla As a young person who's never gone through the pain of unrequited love, yet fears that I eventually will and that makes it painful now thinking about it...<br /> <br /> I like to give another Intepretation, one of true love that can't be taken away.<br /> <br /> "If all the flowers faded away<br /> And if all the storm clouds decided to stay"<br /> <br /> If everything is hurting,<br /> <br /> "Then you would find me<br /> Each hour the same"<br /> <br /> The thought of you lifts me up.<br /> <br /> "She is tomorrow<br /> And I am today"<br /> <br /> Tomorrow will be okay<br /> Because you are my tomorrow.<br /> <br /> "She is sunlight<br /> The sun is gone"<br /> <br /> When my hope is gone<br /> You're the light that pulls me through.<br /> <br /> "And if loving her is<br /> Is a heartache for me<br /> And if holding her means<br /> I have to bleed<br /> Then I am the martyr<br /> Love is to blame"<br /> <br /> I will always love you<br /> Even if that comes with pain, I will die for you.<br /> <br /> "She is the healing<br /> And I am the pain"<br /> <br /> I am the pain I cause myself<br /> But you are the healing that takes it all away.<br /> <br /> "She lives in a daydream<br /> Where I don't belong"<br /> <br /> I don't think I deserve you.<br /> <br /> "And it will take this life of regret<br /> For my heart to learn to forget"<br /> <br /> I can't forget my mistakes, all the wrongs in my life.<br /> <br /> "Tomorrow will be as it has always been<br /> And I will fall to her again"<br /> <br /> But tomorrow will be okay, because you are my tomorrow.
I don't think these lyrics are complete...there's more after the last bit...where the rest of the band aka percussion comes in...
There are two versions of the song. The version from "More than this" has the extra bit that a few people are mentioning. The original version from "The Beauty and the Tragedy" does not have that section.
its just the verse "If right is leaving I'd rather be wrong She is sunlight The sun is gone" thats left out...unless you count the lala's...
I think this is about a guy who loves a girl who is his good friend. She brings sunlight into his world and he can't have her. He doesn't care what he has to do for her, and even though it is "right" to give up, he'd rather be wrong and stay with by her side in hope that the sun will rise again.
so sweet, so pure.
Missing my favorite part at the end "and it will take this life of regret, before my heart learns to forget, tomorrow will be as it alwasy has been, and i will fall to her again, before i know i have come to close" this goes right ebfore the final verse we have on here
the "missing part" is only in one version of the song i believe. that version is on trading yesterday's myspace. but this is definitely my favorite song of all time. it's very beautiful.
this songis so mesmerizinfg i love! i get lost in it.
I think this song is about a guy who loves this girl but can't be with her because she doesn't love him and/or she's with I different guy
Whenever I hear this I never really think it's about unrequited love as stated before. I either hear it as a man who loves some one so much and has been with them but they've died or left and the man still loves her.
I really love this song no matter how it's meant. ♥
