In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Just run Courage without conviction Is apathy at best Better move with a quickness Or get shit-canned like the rest No-one taught you how to run with the pack So blaze your own trail down Catch yourself if you slip Chances are there'll be no-one around
Get out leave it far behind Get out leave it far behind Get out of small town
Run now..to save yourself Run now..to take control Run now..to save your life Run now..its do or die Just run...
The grass is greener on the other side No one here gets out alive It's up to you to survive There's a monster on your side Get out leave it far behind Get out leave it far behind Get out of small town
Run now..to save yourself Run now..to take control Run now..to save your life Run now..its do or die Just run...
I've got faith on my side Destiny on my side I know it's getting better I can fgeel it getting better It can't get much worse It couldn't get much worse
This time I'm gonna run
Run now..to save yourself Run now..to take control Run now..to save your life Run now..its do or die Just run...

I think this one is about leading you own life, and follow your own path, even if you have no guide and there are alot of problems in your path (theres a monster on your side...) and you need to be sure of yourself and run down your path, not walk it carefully and watching every step
Yeah, pretty much what Joker27 said... how you can only rely upon yourself to deal with the troubles in your life, how you shouldn't 'run with the pack'. There's a monster (reference to personal demons, etc?) on your side (where you are in life), so only you can get yourself to the 'other' side where the grass is greener (you have to sort your own life out basically).
I think this is kind of a recurring theme in Dez's lyrics... He writes inspirational stuff which really helps listeners through shit in their lives, I think that's what Devildriver's about after all.
