Take me now
I’ll show you how to live your life like you should
Be the one, at seventeen, to kill yourself with a gun
You said you’d be there
You will be there to make up for the things that you’ve done
You said you’d be there
You were never there to make up for the things

Whoa, I can tell you how
Whoa, you’re not happy now
Whoa, you could be with me
Whoa, you could be happy

Take me now
I’ll show you how this life will twist you around
And be the one, at seventeen, to love the smell on the ground
You said you’d be there
You will be there to make up for the things that you’ve done
You said you’d be there
You were never there to make up for the things

My heart can taste the ghost of you inside of me and soon you’ll see

    General CommentLOVE this song.
    So beautiful.
I don't rly understand it though.
I think that the ghost committed suicide.. and he wants to tell this seventeen year old [who I think is female] to do the same thing?
Because at the start he says he'll show the kid how to live life like she should, and how to "be the one at seventeen to kill yourself with a gun"...
And then later it's like he's reasoning with her, saying how she could be with him she could be happy.
I think that the ghost is angry with this girl.. 'you said you'd be there, you will be there to make up for the things that you've done'.
So maybe this girl did something to him in his life to make him angry.. maybe she was the reason for his death.. and now he wants her to be with him forever.
    I am not sure.

General CommentOkay, I know the meaning of this song for sure.
For the past few days I've been working with my mom.
& someone she works with knows someone who's best friends with the lead singer of Meriwether. So here's the story:

When Drew was in his first band, all the four guys made a pact that if one of them died, even after the band was over, the rest would kill themselves. Well, one of the guys ended up killing himself. The other two kept with the pact, and killed themselves. But Drew didn't kill himself.

& that's what it's about. The girl my mom works with said he hardly ever performs it. Like maybe once every two years. When he does perform it, he cries & stuff.

General CommentMeriwether confirmed that the story about Drew's friends committing suicide was a fake. Just to let you all know that the story above is NOT true.

General CommentI would assume that it's about drugs or alcohol. They can cause teenagers to kill themselves. The teenager relies on the drugs to "be there" or maybe someone else who is on drugs said they would be there, but they weren't. The ghost is something that is invisible, but still in the heart.

    Ask Drew.
