"The CameraEye" as written by and William Patrick Corgan....
Listen, listen,
This is the mark I cannot place
This is the wish I do not lead
Time uncovers what is keeping still
I unaware moved against my will

Simon says, "pass on by"
Passions wane
Stragglers weep
Hungers fight
For the CameraEye

Hold me so I'll never let you go
Stay with me for a while, while I sleep
Mamas squeeze
Grace my spine
Walk on through the CameraEye

Listen, listen
This is the name I cannot speak
This is the flame I dare not douse
Here things are
We'll never get that far
Close enough to die a time or two or three

Stretch my skin
Restless gods
Made it so
My heart would pounce
Deposit change in the CameraEye

Who needs pain to survive?
I need pain to change my life
In gentle myths and turning leaves
We all come to bury truth

Honey choose, my wet dream
A naked soul, just has to believe
If I bleed, the camera cries
No one doubts the CameraEye

Move fast-forward through the CameraEye

Move fast-forward through the CameraEye

The CameraEye
The CameraEye

General CommentThis is my second fav. song on The FutureEmbrace. I really love it. The sound is great, and Billy's singing is also/always fantastic. I agree with brithestfirefly, the part of 'who needs pain to survive?' is my favourite part. It says a lot.

General CommentVery catchy.. Everytime I hear this song I look forward to the line "Here things are".. the way he says here is so pleasurable in an odd way ;]

General CommentCould this be about his fall from fame and the shackles it originally bestowed upon him, the needless publicity, the mindless interviews, fast-forwarding through the camera eye??? Hmmm...

General CommentThis is my favorite song on the Billy's album. Clever and true to life - filled with doubt and honesty - This is a Corgan Classic!

General CommentThis is like one of those poems where you vaguely know what it's about, but can't quite explain it. It has something to do with this feeling that love is constantly being perverted. You're constantly asking yourself what true love really is. I've been with women and I thought I found my true love and it's turned out to be the worst, most hurtful thing. You think, is that true love? I've been with woman who are completely devoted and would lie across a railroad track for me, and I think this is kind of boring. So what is true love anyway? Somehow the words and the images in "TheCameraEye" communicate that to me.

General Commentthis whole album is extremely eerie, and this song refers to love in a very creepy way. but, i must say, to hear the issue of love referred to in such an uncliched way makes it genuine and realistic and exceptionally interesting.
