"Blind Winter" as written by and Missy Higgins....
It was a blind winter when she headed off,
Written on her head was 'failure to conform'
She had her left hand upon a stick but she'd had
Enough so she threw away her one way home.

She said â??I'm just another girl who wants to know
Just where you think it's written down, this way
That we should go.â?? She said â??I'm just another girl
Who wants to know just where you think it's
Written down, this way that we should go...â??

It was a black winter night as she stumbled on
And with every step grew closer to the ground.
She knew her one chance of living on was to strip
Away all the colors that were casting her astray.

She said â??I'm just another girl who wants to know
Just where you think it's written down, this way
That we should go.â?? She said â??I'm just another girl
Who wants to know just where you think it's
Written down, this way that we should goâ?¦â??

So with a fever of 43 she surrendered there,
Ready for the world to take her as their own,
But as she lay there the people stared as they
Carried on, feeling terrified of her stripped to the
Bone...

She said â??I'm just another girl who wants to know
Just where you think it's written down, this way
That we should go.â?? She said â??I'm just another girl
Who wants to know just where you think it's
Written down, this way that we should go...â??

General Commenti agree but i also think its having a dig at society in general particularly with the way that they just carried on while she lay there all alone... because very few people these days will help someone in need. not sure but good song =)

General CommentFor me this song is about not wanting to conform to what's considered normal in society, through sexuality, political or religious beliefs or simply fashion sense, and wanting to know who sets these stupid rules of how we "should" be, but in the ending finding it soo difficult, and having so much opposition, you just decide to sit down, shut up, and conform, even though it's so not what you want "So with a fever of 43 she surrendered there,
Ready for the world to take her as their own,
But as she lay there the people stared as they
carried on, feeling terrified of her stripped to the
    Bone… "

General Commenti have 2 say that to me this song is about a girl on drugs who spent her life living by the rules, conforming to society and carrying out moral values in society that are not nesicarily justified by anything: "where you think its written down, this way that we should go". I think the fact it is a "blind winter" refers to the surreal world she is in, created by the drugs. How she "stumbled on every step closer to the ground" is a applicable both in litteral and metaphorical sense.
People are terrified of her as they see her lying on the street, on drugs (as she lay there the people starrid feeling terrified...) and to most people seeing a person like that is intimidating. No one would help. She gave up on life and was judged this made her angry and to rebel as represented by the repetition of the last chorus.

I dont no...i have never really thought of it differently to this, but maybe thats just me!

General CommentShe was driving home in the middle of winter when she realized that it's not home. she has nowhere to really go. so she turns her car off the side of the road and crashes. but she doesn't die so she wanders out into the winter and no one finds her.

General CommentPersonally, i think this song is about missy higgins' sexuality.I mean really every knows by now that she's either bi sexual or a lesbian. "Written on her head was failure to conform." She failed to conform to being a straight girl. "I'm just another girl who wants to know, just where you think it's written down this way that we should go." She want's to know why her sexuality isn't really accepted in society and where it's written down that being straight is the right way to go. "She knew her one chance of living on was to strip away all the colours that were casting her astray." the only way she can survive in this world is to pretend that she's straight. "So with a fever of 43 she surrendered there, ready for the world to take her as their own, but as she lay there the people stared as they carried on, feeling terrified of her stripped to the bone." they'd stripped her bare of all her beliefs and she was ready to take on the world with the beliefs accepted by society, but she was stripped down to the bone because she was no longer protected by her own beliefs. People still didn't accept her and just kept walking past. That's my opinion on the whole song, sorry if you don't agree or if it confused you :P

General Commenti think this song is about a combination of things, the first being that missy higgins is bisexual, and she is being viewed differently by small minded people who treat her like shes evil, and shes talkng about having to hide her feelings, so that people will see her as a person and not judge her by the gender shes attracted to, but its killing her and she just wants people to see her for her and stop hiding and when she does a lot of people turn their backs on her and her music, because they dont understand, the second theory is that the girl in the song, is suffering with some sort of addiction and people are judging her based on what they know and not looking at how shes feeling, and so she decides to try to stop, but her world just seems to get much worse, mixed with the pain of trying to stop she realises more how terribley cold the world really is, and she starts getting sick from withdrawl, and dies but people dont see the person they only see the fact of the addiction, so they treat her like shes evil because they dont see what she went through... thats what i think
