"you versus the sea" as written by and Choi Clay....
Yes I swear, bravery and strength go with her name, ooh
And she said, all she had was the cross around her neck
To keep her warm, ooh

I still remember how you tried to hold these walls through perfect storms
Oh, you've lost so many homes
You said, "Hold on, everything will be okay"
I've been confused, why can't we just run away?

Was it hope that kept you alive through the years
And should I even call it living?

I've been dreaming that I found you staying in the sea
Then you told me that's where you've been
You said the water's cold but still warmer than your skin

I tried to help you but the closer I got, the further you are to me, away
[Incomprehensible]

Was it hope that kept you alive through the years
And should I even call it living?

General CommentI cannot beleive that this song does not have many comments. It is hard for me to dicipher the meaning of it but some of the lyrics point that a girl that he knows has been through much pain and "perfect storms" symbolize that something strong enough to make everything worse occured.
"was it hope that kept you alive through the years and should i even call it living?" she went through so much but she still stayed alive through hope but it was so hard but she was barely living a life.

General CommentThese are the correct lyrics:

Yes I swear bravery and strength go with her name, ooh
And she said all she had was the cross around her neck to keep her warm, ooh
I still remember how you tried hold these walls through perfect storms
Ohh, you lost so many homes
You said hold on everything will be okay
I've been confused, why can't we just run away?

Was it hope that kept you alive through the years and
Should I even call it living?

I've been dreaming that I found you staying in the sea
Then you told me that's where you've been
You said that the water's cold but still warmer than your skin
I tried to help you but the closer I got, the further you walked away...away

Was it hope that kept you alive through the years and
Should I even call it living?

General CommentCould be about his mother. Through the hardest times she still fought to keep her "Home" whatever you may want that to be, a real house or comfort zone. I feel that it could be a pun.
She tries to tell him that everything is fine, but he sees through that and doesn't know why she puts up with it.

The dream scene: i interpretted it being that she was suffering but didn't want him to know even though he saw through the guise. He tried to help but she refused or "walked away"

Perhaps his mother was trying her best to create that perfect world for him.

General CommentI think this song is about two people with opposite outlooks on life. One being optimistic, the other pessimistic.

"i still remember how you tried to hold these walls through perfect storms" is her trying to fight against conflict

"you lost so many homes" meaning that she couldn't solve all her problems

"you say hold on and everything will be okay, i've been confused why can't we just run away" is the girl saying have a little faith, but the narrator just wants to ignore and avoid issues.

"was it hope that kept you alive through the years and should i even call it living?" the narrator is saying that it is foolish to try and fix things that are inevitable. he thinks she wasted her time when she could have been off living a great life.

"You said that the water's cold but still warmer than your skin" refers to how the girl thinks the narrator was right all along, and that it was foolish to chase impossible dreams and that she has nothing left now.

"I tried to help you but the closer I got, the further you walked away...away" the roles have switched, now the narrator is the one saying have a little faith, but the girl is convinced everything is inevitable and trying to help wont do anything, so she walks away/ avoids her problems.

General Commenti think its about someone trying to love someone whos gone through the death of a loved one. just how this girl seems so cold to him, but is getting through this difficulty, even though she is BARELY getting through it. shes trying to be strong and he just wants to get away from it all. i love this song, and i LOVE the intro. especially on my mp3 player as i walk to school. mmmhhhhmmmmmm.
